It won't work. They make u give them your wiring hookup, whether it's a cigarette light plug or whatever, and they test it in their car to make sure.
Which is why I don't believe the "make u run over it" thing. They are required to keep it as evidence.

Not if they have probable cause, which they do since they detected your detector. I think that only works if they just pull u over for a random spot check. If they detect a detector and you don't comply, be prepared to a) have your car torn apart from top to bottom and b) to wait, be harrassed and have the cops give u as much trouble they can.
