boosted, what was the date of your offence? there is a law that prevents you from getting the demerits if you were charged before the punishment was in effect, but i forget what it is called.

But question, why are you fighting the city, you should be fighting it in the Ontario Court..?

Edit: On e-laws, this is stated,

Made: June 22, 2005
Filed: November 23, 2005

Also, if you look at the O-reg, the last number, /05, is the year in which the O-reg was enacted/amended, so, if you got your ticket in 06, then you will be getting the demerits.
