BMW 335D - So dope!
Rumored to be invading north American shores in 2008 is the BMW 335d. That's right, d as in diesel powered.
Almost identical in weight and certainly identical in almost every other facet save a few. Power and fuel consumption. This car ticks in at 14hp LESS than the gas alternative but here's the kicker. The gas engine makes 300lb/ft of torque, which is certainly impressive I must say. The diesel car churns out 428'b/ft of tree stump pulling torque. According to BMW Magazine this allowed them to take two nearly bone stock 335d's to the 25 hours of Thunderhill race and take 4th and 5th overall behind a few purpose built 911 Race cars. All that was upgraded were the brakes, tires, and suspension along with a slight bump in boost pressure. Crazy. Great vehicles. I drove one of the new 335's and it was amazing. FI is my fave!

This is really nothing that new to Europe... BMW has been building diesel 3 series for years that are equal in performance to all other 3 series/competitors shy of the M3..
