first thing you should do to slow it down is get an oil spray until you can get it fixed.

but if you can get it fixed right away then that is even better.

Check out Alpine Bodyworks.......good guy and really good work for a really good price.

I've got the rust bubble thing spreading as well.

I went to one body shop (near Lancaster & Bridgeport) and asked for a ball park figure... .$500 ish. grind, replace some steel, paint. (that's the wheel well and a spot at the C pillar where it conects to the rear quarter)

I said... damn... not right now. (by winter it will probably be through the paint... boo...)

There's the cheap way to do it, then there's the right way. A rear quarter should cost between $1200 and $1500 to fix properly. If you want to spend $500, keep in mind that you'll be fixing it again in less than 2 years.

alright i drive a neon, so they are fammmour for rust bubbles on the driver and passenger side doors, all i did was i took it to a local highschool, asked if i could use there stuff, they said sure as long as i give some money into the program, sure toss them $50 and i did all the body work myself, too easy, sand blast the rust, bondo to cover holes whatever, sand it down smootha nd flush with the rest of the car, primer, then spot paint or sand down the whole car and send it off to get a paint job its rather easy, body work people charge you like crazy. if anyone of you have seen me driving around, i'm the green neon witht he primer spots alll over lol

also might being doing the paint job myself, have a compressor and paint gun, you just get sooo much more satisfaction out of a job if you do it yourself!

It's not hondas that rust, it's Canadian cars, scratch that, it's cars on the east coast that rust (fucking salt).

A bubble means rust. Usually, rusted thru. If you are planning on fixing it soon and you have cash, take a flat head and pop that bubble (litterally) and expose the metal. It's more then likely thru the metal at this point (honda's usually rust from the inside out in quarter panels, rust is always worst on the inside). Mark 6-8 inches around that bubble, and that's how much metal you SHOULD remove to declare that area safe again.

If you cant fix it now, leave it. Go see Jimmy and have it oil sprayed. It will seriously slow it down.

OK Polska. LudeSRV is right, what you see on the outside is more than likely 10x larger on the inside. And what dealerships are you talking about? Just to paint a bumper is $500++. Do you have any idea what good quality automotive primer/paint/clear + reducer/hardener costs? What do you think you're getting when you get a good "deal" on body/paint work? You get exactly what you pay for.

Yup. Unfortunatly for us body work is the only work where a 'good deal' is NEVER a good deal. Unless you know a body man, you know he does good work, you know he bought good material and proper replacement metal and you know he welded it on right and didn't use 5 lbs of bondo, and you know he layed the paint nice, and he still charged you next to nothing, then it's the only time it's a good deal for it to be cheap.

When my dad 02 civic, in 02, got bumped in the back, Honda charged his insurance company around 900$ for a new bumper, painted stock silver with a new rear re-bar. That seemed like a good deal to me since it was a brand new car and parts were only available at honda.

A good body man is worth the money.

Also, I would like to note, that in my experience, bubbling usually happens on cars that have already been repainted, and it's usually a result of poor body work.

for you people that want a cheap fix, start oil spraying your car twice a year. If you spray a car enough we can stop the rust dead in its tracks, i have an old honda that had a couple bubbles when i got it, almost a year later and hasn't gotten any worse!

no your actually wrong to repaint a bumper quote from nissan it costs rear cover : 320.00$ front cover is close to that to but thats a STEALERSHIP!!!! and since i work at a body shop and my dad owns one and i think i know what im talking about! Every dealership has there own pricing! and seriously a dealerships worksmanship isnt much better or IS NOT better than some of the privatly owned shops! they still cut corners to make a buck and people dont even notice it!

AND!!!! he said it was a rust bubble you do not need to replace the full quarter every time there is a rust bubble if you correctly grind out the rust and prep the area correctly the spot should not rust again ! and i stand by my word it should cost less than 1000$ to fix 2 quarters!

Oh.. I got the name of the body shop I was at.. (note... it was not a quote, it was a ballpark figure.... pasenger side rear quarter wheel well.. grind/cut/replace/paint... and the section up by the c pillar... as well as a retouch on the drivers side wheel well ... its okay condition... ) $500

The place is called Meyers ... or something like that. Anyone heard of it, or the work they do?

that is a awesome price to cut and replace a quarter and to paint it! you dont need to replace a quarter every time there is a rust bubble but that is the customers choice. good luck with the work, and i havnt heard of meyers but just because there not well known it doesnt mean they dont do good work

well. its the fender portion that needs some new steel... not the whole thing.

I intend to get a 2nd and 3rd opinion.

Polska_01 .... pm me a time and place, I'ld be interested in your input from either your shop, or your dads.

Thinking about this car... I think I may want to keep it for another 100,000Km or so.. I'ld like to keep it looking purty.
