Night time lights suck

My night time driving lights absolutely suck balls, their not bright enough for me to see much ahead of me, so i was wondering if poppin in stronger bulbs would ruin anything? the vehicle is on a lease and id like to bring it back undamaged as much as possible. Thanks

If they are a higher wattage than the stock bulbs you could risk melting connectors or wiring

what kind of "stronger bulb"? are you saying those ricer bulbs ?? honestly if you buy those fancy 6000k halogen bulbs you will think they are brighter because its whiter/bluer but really its dimmer than the stock bulbs. Hm i would say the sylvania's are the best bet. Or you could upgrade to HID's but just make sure you do it properly and dont blind every one on the road.

They are a bit pricey but they do a really good job: SilverStar

Good bulbs that last and are extremely bright.

SilverStar Ultra are amazing. I just blew 1 bulb after 7-8 months probably because my finger touched the bulb during install as the other one is still going.

Sylvania is sending me a NEW PAIR of bulbs because they believe it may be a defect because I was pretty sure I never did touch the lens.

lol, they are actually the stock bulbs, just regular ones you'd buy for like 8 bucks a bulb or something, nothing special.

It's because of the projectors I have, they seem brighter, especially if you look at them in a certain angle.

the aiming should be fine since the vehicle is on a lease lol no ones touched the headlamps as far as i know, they just dont have the brightness i'd like, i need something just a step up so i can see a little better, i might need to aim them a tad higher since i cant even a car on a flat road until its right in front of me...

If you're looking to squeeze the most out of factory lights..

1. Check for propper aim.

2. Clean them.. for glass wetsanding may remove some of the pitts.. for plastic, wetsand down then use plastic polish follwed by plastix, and re apply the plastix at least once a month.

3. Upgrade bulbs. Bluer light may look great and be ok in fair weather, but as soon as any rain/snow/fog is around you're going to suffer. Silverstars are good, but from my experience the GE nighthawks are slightly better, wider beam pattern and no blue tint means you get more light on the road. I did a snow rally which dwindled on into the night on stock lights with GE nighthawks and managed OK, I really would have liked to have my aux driving lights on, but I haven't mounted them on the RS yet.. anyway.. hands down the best bulbs I've used. (in the past I used silverstars, also tried PIAA and Hella)

4. Scratch your stock wiring and install a relay.. can also allow you to use higher output bulbs! Not so practical on a leased car...
good writeup:
Daniel Stern Lighting Consultancy and Supply

5. Aux lights.. adding more lamps is obviously going to give you more light output.. but consider legality and if it's a leased vechicle this will most likely not be practical.

Hope my post helped. If you want more info on lighting, this website is really informative and backed up most of what I've learned when I read it the other week. Daniel Stern Lighting Consultancy and Supply

Also this site offers great deals on bulbs, and sells euro models which adhere to higher lighting standards than our DOT bulbs. GE megalight is same as nighthawk, and the OSRAm silverstars are MUCH better than ours.. they also offer free shipping anywhere in the world. Last time I talked to a rep there, they said the new philips xtreme power is even better than the nighthawks!
Philips HID,Philips Visionplus,Philips BlueVision,Philips DiamondVision, Philips Power2night and GE HID,GE Megalightplus, GE Euroblue sold by the industry experts
