Nice looking 240Z. Didn't look like the guy on the R1 was trying hard, sounded like he was well below 10000 RPM. R1s brake light came on first anyway, shrug.

Until around 2001, the R1 was the cat's arse. But around 2000, 2001, Suzuki started to beat Yamaha's 1L sportsbike from two directions. The 2000-2002 Suzuki GSXR750 had a higher top speed (stock gearing and with -1 tooth front sprocket) and very similar 1/4 mile times. The Gixx750 loses out down low to the R1's bigger engine's grunt, but the 750 screams up high and doesn't lose anything the the R1 up top (9500 RPM-14000 RPM or so). In 2001 the GSXR1000 just crushed the R1. Suzuki's new litre has about 20 rwhp more than the R1. On the track, rider skill is everything. But equal riders, the Suzuki GSXR1000 changed the whole litre bike world. Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki all had to re-vamp their litre bikes for 2004 because of the Suzuki GSXR1000. Day to day and with 90% of riders, a well-ridden GSXR750 will beat a GSXR1000 because the GSXR1000 just has so much engine -- it's pretty tricky getting on the gas right after the apex with a GSXR1000 -- it's power overwhelms tire/rubber technology and the back end just loses traction so easily. http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/performancedata/ Not absolutely accurate (figures are as tested by diff riders at diff locations/conditions), but direcionally accurate. The R1 typically turns in low 10s (stock) and low 140s at the drag strip, about 137 rwhp, 440 lbs wet weight. ------------------ \'03 Suzuki GSXR750 |

Thanx man that was a really good description. Knowing the numbers and stats of the bike makes that car look really really good.
