Ya there is when you are on the phone nto only does it take one hand away. But it is proven to require more concentration. The more senses we use out of the five the easier it is to concentrate. So when they are in the car more sense are at play. But over the phone you are only using hearing.

Got rid on my phone a while ago. Didn’t use it alot when I was driving but did see it as a distraction.

Having no cell is alot better now I think. Don’t have stupid people calling with no reason to call. lol maybe its just me.

Driving an automatic and talking on the phone isn't THAT bad it's pretty easy to do and you only really need one hand to drive anyways. I'm not saying it's ok to do but for some people it's not a problem they can multitask but others just can't do it. It's trying to drive standard and talking on the phone that can be a BIG problem. The best thing is get a head set or put the cell on speaker phone and talk. It's easier to push the speaker phone button and put it down then it is to try balancing it between your shoulder and ear while driving.

I'm pretty sure tests have shown that the distraction from a phone doesn't come from holding it, but from the conversation you're having on it, so a headset/speaker phone really doesn't help at all.

Its pretty damn easy to drive standard and talk on the phone, even around town, but it doesn't mean everyone should make a habit of it.

I do use my phone enough while I'm driving, but its usually if someone calls that I've been waiting for, or if I'm calling to tell someone I'm going to be late/early because of road conditions. I definitely don't call people to have conversations while I'm driving.

Well i'd like to hope that most people who talk on their phone while driving weren't the ones who made the call. I know when i'm driving the only time i'm ever on the phone is if someone calls me and it's actually important. Most of the time if i need to get a hold of someone while driving i'll get who ever is sitting in my passenger seat to call them for me and then i tell them what to say.

It's funny that this poll is on here my buddy just about got killed on his bike on the expressway today becasue a guy in a van was to busy taking on his cell phone to notice a bike in the lane that he was merging into.

i talk sometimes but i usually keep the conversation short, and i am still waiting for my earpiece from Motorola
