to buy or not to buy...

alright, it's decision making time... i have a chance to pick up another opel, but a different model for a what seems like a really good price, he wanted $2500US at first, but i told him that i simply can't afford that, so now the offer is $1400 and it comes with a fuel injection kit so i won't have to worry about the damn carbeurator (which is supposidly a hassle on these). i would really love to drive this car til mine is done... then maybe turbo it later since it has lots of room for one. the only problem is that the only way i can afford it is if i get this job i just applied for... and then i have to figure out what needs to be done to take it across the boarder (he lives in Syracuse, NY... about 4 hours away).

so the question is, should i put the money down for this, or not, since i don't really need it, i can get along fine without it and i'd have an extra $1400US... but i do really want it. heres some pics:

I would have said yes if it was the same model, but you already have the pretty one (opel)

Looks like a pretty sizable rear diff leak, I'd say pass on it if 2500$ is way outside your price range.

The over the boarder process won't be free, and who knows what it's going to need in the short term. You could easily within moments be back up and over 2500$, plus running costs.

if you ever see the size of the engine bay on a GT, you'll know why i don't want to try to turbo it, barely any room

and i'd have to see if i can talk him into selling me just the FI kit... he wants to sell them together, and i would still like to get the whole car...

in my opinion, never strive to get the car you want,,,,take the money you have and put it into investments, once the money starts to work for you, then you can play...
