when i downloaded that vid to my computer there was a slip. You won't believe the "amount" of mods to make that 2.0l dohc run 12's. Whats amazing is its a small amount!

He runs a 12.63 at 109mph

here are the mods:

Hahn Stage II turbo kit
Chill factory down pipe and front mount
stage 3 axles
stock internals! BOOYA!!!

He posted that to run that time he invested nearly $5000 which is pretty damn good for 12's!

ps. I will try and find the post
(but for an idea he lives the line at 18s and makes the pass at 30s)

Over the last six years, Tripp has invested in a Hahn Racecraft Stage II turbo kit for $3,500; a Quaife limited slip differential for $1,195; TRMotorsports 17-inch wheels and tires for about $1,200; and Driveshaft Shop Stage III axles for $800.

12's for $5000 is nice, ChillFactory sells a complete(even includes rods and pistons) kit for $6200US that is pretty much guaranteed to make you run 11's.. Anyone that has the kit runs 11's easily with daily driven cars, full weight just with slicks.

Other than DSM's right? $5000 is more than enough to put them in the 12's easily.

yep thats the perks of owning a neon. Dude to make an SIR run 12's YOU KNOW HOW MUCH YOU HAVE TO SPEND!!!! and from factory the DOHC neona and SIR are almost the same stats!

I likes the neon platform for that reason. To make a neon go from 15.9 to 14.9 is cheap!

All you need is Mopar ECU, CAI, and UDP!!!

I don't know any honda that runs 15.9 stock that can dropm a whole second with three minor mods for under $600!!!

Thats because the Honda engines are already VERY efficient from the factory, there isn't a whole lot to improve on.. The neon engine, however has lots of potential in it...

well I guess my 2000 civic sir is a just a freak. With a few minor boltons catback exgaust, cai,b&m fuel pressure regulator,dc heador,I was able to run a 15.0 at 90mph at grandbend. All I spent on the car was around $1500 including suspension. So I think that is pretty decent.

My buddys SIR IS A FREAK as well!
He ran a 15.0 with AEM cold air, DC header and Tanabe Exhaust!

It'll be interesting to see what Blake's does with his *new* motor... Hopefully he'll pull a mid 14, his car can't be that much heavier than Mike's hatch is... It would suck if he still wasn't faster than your SiR

and yes... the original DOHC neon engine was supposed to have about 170hp, and 150lb/ft. It was detuned for fuel economy, and to make it more automatic friendly(whoever suggested that should be shot)..

They put in wimpier cams, and re designed the intake manifold for a more usable torque range... Stupid maybe, but it means extra power is that much easier to come by.
