Saw Accident on the 401 - #1 Car Club In Kitchener - Waterloo - Cambridge

Well most of the time when you say, you saw an accident on the 401 you are reffering to seeing a few banged up cars.
This time it was different i accutally saw this one happen.
I was coming from work yesterday about 5:30PM. As we approached the Petro-Canada/MscDonalds stop by Cambridge the traffic was braking, so i slowed down from the 150 to about 110, i noticed that further up lots of tail lights were going on, esspecially on the fast lane, so i switched over to the middle lane, doing about 130. Then i notice that the fast lane was completly stoped like 5 cars ahead. The 3 cars imediatly in front of me (but on the left lane) slammed thier brakes, but to no effect. The first (which i couldn't identify slammed into the first car that was stopped), The Jeep Cherokee that was following ploughed over on top of that car and then a Gen-6 Honda Civic slammed into the Jeep, the front lifted about 6 feet and car slammed into the wall.
I then switched over to the right most lane and went by the wreckage and braked. This all happened in less then 1 second so i couldn't really clearly see all the details. I also tried to look in the mirror to see what other cars got involved, becuase there was another car (BUick) side by side with me on the fast lane and i suspect he didn't brake in time and slammed into the Civic.
If i were in the fast lane i would have been in that accident as well as i don't see any was i could have avoided it. 130km/h to 0 in less then 20 meters is not possible.
I still don't know the main cause of the first cars to stop, becuase the HWY was packed past the KW exit. I saw numerous Fire Trucks, and Ambulances booting it on the shoulder towards London.

I've seen 3 accidents in my lifetime. One time my buddy was in his ford Explorer Eddie Bower edition and thought he could make it across the intersection before a bus, BIG MISTAKE!!! I'm looking in my rear view mirror and All I see is this bus SLAM into his truck flipping it over and onto another car! CRAZY!!!

That's pretty crazy. I got t-boned last year on Franklin right at Can-Amera. It hurt. My head went right through the window. It was the stupid kids fault that hit me. He only had his G2 for a week!

yeah accidents are pretty krazy..

i was invoved in a multi-car-crash on highway 86 about 3yrs ago...not good at all..everyone was slipping on a bad patch of black ice...and next thing u know everyone is spinning out and smashing into eachother..
bad news...

My truck almost bit the dust today! Driving down Hespeler road at lunch time, and some oncoming Spuick Rendezvous (From Maryland) did a legit u-turn as I am driving in the centre median lane. When all of the sudden, buddy decides to come into my lane.

All of the sudden I see my side mirror snap forward and spring back, so obviously I knew I was hit - how bad at that time - I did not know. My friend Ron, whom also works with me was following me and later told me that I must have come within inches of smoking a curb!

I told buddy to turn off into a parking lot, to which he followed. I got out to look at the damage - or lack there of (I WAS LUCKY!) A little bit of scuffed up mirror.

So the guy was pretty sympathetic, I said don't worry about it, it could have been a lot worse. Merry Christmas! (And don't ever tell me that Canadians are selfish pricks - you blind American bugger!)

That is pure luck man, glad to hear everything is ok.
You must have some kind of an angle in the bed of that truck. Still can't picture it touching your mirror and not smashing you.

Wow Derek thats insane. You were blessed, cause usually when it gets that close you will be missing a panel!
I think the fact that it wasn't bad is your best christmas gift this year!!!

I almost BIT THE DUST AS WELL TODAY!!!

On frickin TOWNLINE the worst road in the tri-citys. I'm turning into a driveway when my brakes lock up (it just started to rain so road was slippery) and I couldn't counter it because the guy behind me was on ym ass and a car was coming the other way so I took the shoulder. I was so stunned, everything happened so fast!
