Insurance for bikes..

as i understand when you take your car to a track your insurance is not valid while on that property, yes?

soo.. does this mean i could buy a bike for track use and not insure it for more than fire/theft?

seems simple but the law has funny hitches in it all the time.

you dont need to insure it at all... but if you existing company accepts bikes they will probably let you just fire and theft it, but you cant goto another company and buy just fire and theft right off the bat

That's a myth. They do have certain limits to your insurance, but most insurance policies do cover u on a track.

I think thats more of a myth than not being covered at the track.. Many insurance companies have been known to drop policies because they found out the car was used for timed/distance racing(which includes auto-x).

Any lapping day I've ever been to, its been told at the start that the track insurance is only liability, so if you smack up your car its coming out of your pocket, because your own insurance won't cover damage either.

Fidel, you only need insurance to drive something on public roads. Dirt bikes that are used on private property don't need insurance, and neither do trailered cars.
