Difference between Power steering and not PS.

Hey guys

As the title states, I'm wondering what the differences between a car with power steering and a car without power steering is. Just wanna know some opinions and suggestions or anything you have to say. Idiots or stupid comments will be ignored.

I used to drive a 96 cavalier with Power steering and i'm thinking about buying a honda civic cx without power steering.

Also, Now that I think of it the CX doesn't have power brakes either. Whats that like? Whats the difference etc etc....

Thanks for your time.

if it has a manual steering rack then it will be fine to drive. if it has a power steering rack and just has the PS taken out, then it could be a pain in the ass in parking lots. i'm not sure about hondas, my 240 is like that (PS is broken at the moment).

i don't like power steering for spirited driving, i love the road feel without it. PS is damn nice to have when you're feeling lazy though.

Same here. My Civic came with no PS, and to be honest that's the most I could handle. If the car was any bigger I'd be really pissed. There's no way I'd drive my Accord without PS.

i enjoy power steering but after driving my 91 hatch with no power steering it takes a little more work to turn but the weight of the car does alot of it for you.

If there were manual racks avail. for the 240sx I wouldn't bother with powersteering, road feel without powersteering is sooo much better.

Some power assist setups dont always behave like true power steering, both of my 92 VW's with power assist provided road feel kinda like the 92 B2200 I drove for a bit with a manual steering rack, but help out alot at slow speeds, and didnt numb the feel like my focus or any GM's I drove.

In a perfect world for me any sports car I would drive, would have manual steering rack, manual tranny, manual brakes, cable clutch. The drivetrain in a car can tell you alot through feel. Power kinda kills that communication between a driver and his/her car for the sake of a little less effort.

When you're driving along you probably won't even notice the difference. It's in the parking lots where it will be a lot more work. It more than likely has power brakes on it.

This is where you type a bunch of shit about how awesome your car is. FACT: It's been scientifically proven that the more shit you write in here the less cool your car is. Nine times out of ten the majority of people who talk shit down here don't even have any of the crap they talk about on their car. I drive an 8 year old domestic and barely give two shits about it. I beat the hell out of it and it begs for more, just like your girlfriend. Go ahead, cut me off. I dare ya.

well in my car.. you can't dry-steer easily (which is fine because I don't dry-steer anyways) you just need to roll ever so slightly to turn the wheel.

I wouldn't bother with a car without power steering, even a small car. My car doesn't have power steering...its fun but around the town its a bitch.

I went all of 2005 without PS and I can actually say I prefer not having it... I just hate trying to drift without it (which is one reason I put it back in) but the bigger reason is I didnt want to cook the rack.

No PS FTW! lol
