This is where you type a bunch of shit about how awesome your car is. FACT: It's been scientifically proven that the more shit you write in here the less cool your car is. Nine times out of ten the majority of people who talk shit down here don't even have any of the crap they talk about on their car. I drive an 8 year old domestic and barely give two shits about it. I beat the hell out of it and it begs for more, just like your girlfriend. Go ahead, cut me off. I dare ya.

Kace,

Maybe I'm misunderstanding presidente and yourself but it sounds a lot like you guys see modifying vehicles as something that is immature and/or financially irresponsible.

Maybe souping up ford escorts wasn't your thing but for a select few board members modifying and/or racing vehicles can be just as fulfilling as spending big dollar on sports..

If you mean "out-grown" as in the club, scene, or lifestyle... than I fully agree with you - it's all a bunch of nonsense to me too.

however, have you seen some of the cars people haul around? Go to a cayuga test-and-tune instead of a st. thomas one.

I think we understand each other. I still watch Top Gear and drool at the amazing automotive technology out there. I like my car but I like living my life a lot more. eg, white water rafting on the Zambezi River in Zambia > wasting money on modifying an LS.

it's not that i think modifying a car is stupid, it's just that i'm choosing to spend my money elsewhere. That being said, i'm not about to sell and buy an econobox.

Very true, but i would rather spend my time on a hot beach> white water rafting on the Zamezi river in Zambia.

People will spend there money on things that interest them. To me i will never give up with cars. I always put family first anyway so things will not change. All you guys are where i was at 6 years ago. If i had money left over then i put it into the car. If not then the car stayed the same. My life has never changed (since i got married and had kids). My priorities where always family-friends-work-entertainment-cars.

Paul, I may have not full explained myself. But you hit the nail on the head.

I will still continue to hit the lapping days with my car (and future cars). If I feel that modification is required to assist me on the track, aka suspension, then I will do it. But what I meant by "out-grown" is the part where you modify something so that when you pull into a parking lot for the first time people say "Wow!!!". Then after that initial "wow-factor" the modifications are somewhat "useless". Maybe it's the fact that the scene took such a big direction into modifying your car for other people. And even though a lot of people have, will and still do deny that they ever modified their cars for themselves only, that's not true. Just look at how fast and big the whole JDM scene took off. One year people were drooling over 17" and 18" wheels and the next year those exact people were drooling over 15" Spoon SW388's.

The "scene" just became very fake and I think a lot of us realized that. I really hope that the newer, younger members here and at PSA can do something about that and have great sucess with it.

Also, I will never directly insult someone that is modifying a Ford Escort right now. In fact if they were to ask me any questions about it, I would be more then willing to help them out. It's just that I personally don't find that hobby as fulfilling or entertaining as I once did.

Now, on the other hand, the thing I miss most about that hobby is the people that I have met and the friends that I have made. A lot of you guys on here and PSA are friends, in fact a lot of us have been friends since the first year of VM. It is tough to keep in touch with a lot of these friends without VM or other car related activities.

So Paul, I didn't fully explain myself and what you said is what I meant.

That right there is my biggest fear. Anything that takes away from income generation or furthering life experiences is a waste. 3k on wheels is pointless when you consider how far your dollar goes in other parts of the world. Spending money to have fun is a lot better than impressing people in a parking lot. As stated, most mods are useless and don't increase the fun factor of a car.

$3000 for a set of wheels can buy you a month long trip in China.

Big Buck hunter is only $2000 and maybe a lot cheaper. I have to check with my new distribuator :P. Double Dragon machines are hard to come by now a days.

Mike, you realize Big Buck Hunter machines usually are in terrible shape, and need a whole lot of repair and recalibration right?

No, I didn't know that. Even if it's brand new, and only for home use, it'll still need a lot of repair and recalibration???

And getting back to the topic on hand. What VM really needs is leadership. Local leadership. Someone that is much like those of us still around (ie. mature, has a business sense, has people skills, etc...) and yet is in their early 20' and has the time and energy to dedicate to VM.

Basically, VM is right there for the grabbing, all it needs is someone to just step up and grab it.

Sevsev sevsev sevsev (), have I not taught you anything. Everything in this world is for sale for the right price.

And, with the type of person that VM needs to take control, they should have no problem convincing the current owners that they will continue to lose money on this site as the vistors/members participation continues to decrease, thus allowing them to purchase the ownership for a very reasonable price.

Well ya, but I don't think they are seeing a huge loss right now (other than the fact that it's winter and not summer (which you could probably take advantage of for lower price)). It's those 30+ guests that are almost always on that are the earners, not us registered users. But this forum could be monetized quite better if someone local owned it and brought back local sponsors.

Someone just needs to step up, I dunno about that happening

If vm got bought out by someone locally and brought back to where it was.. that would be awsome, multiple city car clubs...good old competition would make things that much better IMO
