Old engine

Hey guys,
I've gotta start cleaning some crap out of the garage of my Waterloo house so I can get out of here in the spring
I have my old engine sitting in the garage, a 2.0L 4 cyl out of a Probe/MX6/626

I hydrolocked it and bent a connecting rod - it runs but doesn't enjoy it

Anways, I'd planned to keep it around and start digging inside just so I could tinker and see what internals look like

Obviously I never got around to that..... now I'm not sure the best way to get rid of it.

I can't really be bothered parting out the good parts from it.... would any company pay for the metal in it and pick it up? Or is my best option to have a junkyard pick it up free (assuming they do that) and get nothing for it?

Thanks

Junk yards most likley will not take it. Right now automotive scap is $115 a tonne. Thats why you see they will pay like $100 per car max or whatever. They strip them and then take the crusher to it. With just an engine thats about $15 worth of weight to them. You might be able to call up some metal scrap guys who will take it. Especially if it has an aluminum block or head etc. Call up some people who do metal recycling. Especially the guys who rip out old furnaces and stuff. Those would be the best bet. Yellowpages are full of them.

Most metal recyclers will take it. You'll get next to nothing for it if you give it to them assembled. If you sort the aluminium from the iron you'll get a slightly better price, but for the effort most people just toss them the whole engine.

This is where you type a bunch of shit about how awesome your car is. FACT: It's been scientifically proven that the more shit you write in here the less cool your car is. Nine times out of ten the majority of people who talk shit down here don't even have any of the crap they talk about on their car. I drive an 8 year old domestic and barely give two shits about it. I beat the hell out of it and it begs for more, just like your girlfriend. Go ahead, cut me off. I dare ya.

If all else fails, throw it on the probe forums: Free if picked up. For somebody wanting an engine to build it's a cheap starting place, especially if they're installing stronger rods and pistons.
