Just thought everyone should know that Fisher Hallman between Ottawa and University, possibly more than that stretch, is essentially one large sheet of black ice. The worst part is heading towards University from Ottawa on the hill by The Great Canadian Superstore. That whole hill is ice and there is no snow or anything to drive onto to stop your slide. I did a 180 just now and then spun out of it. I had to lock up my breaks and throw it in reverse while sliding forwards and spinning in reverse at full tilt to avoid the car infront of me stopped at the lights at the bottom of the hill.

There are marks in the snow banks on both sides of the road from people slamming into them to stop because breaking does nothing. Nothing scarier than looking in your rearview mirror and watching taillights coming in your direction from behind.

So avoid that area at all costs. I have full winter tires on my car and they did nothing.

EDIT:

Huron road is also a sheet of black ice. People in ditches and unable to stop.

Highway 7/8 coming from New Hamburg is also very very slippery. Lots of cars in ditches and many people sliding out of control.

Please take caution while out there.

Just get an SUV with 4 wheel drive, you'll be fine then.
