The metal grid on rear windows for defrosting

Anybody have experience removing this and what can I use, some type of solvent?

Some cars have it embedded in the glass, others it's etched, and some it's painted on. I wouldn't fuck with it unless I had a spare rear window to practice on. Most of the chemicals/abrasives I could imagine pulling it off, will probably fog the hell out of it.

i'd recommend not doing it, since its probably required for a safety (though i'm not sure). but if its legal to remove then i'd find your car at an auto wreckers and experiment on that before playing with yours just in case.

thats right, it is required for a safety, however, the likelyhood anyone would ever notice is slim

no?

Safety issues aside, mine isn't embedded, I'm pretty sure it's like a glued on coating. I was thinking of the wreckers idea, guess that's my best bet. Isn't that window not required at all tho?

Technically, you don't even have to be able to see out your rear window. As long as you have a rear facing mirror.
