VW Question!

my rear calipers have been seizing, and they have finally bought the farm. I've been quoted $600 to have them fixed, as well as replacing my pads and roter's. Its a lot of money right before the holidays.

my question is, does anyone think this amount to be high?

and is there anywhere in Kitchener you would reccommend to get this done correctly and for a low price?

thanx, Simon!

Is that quote from the dealer? If you but OEM parts I could see it being that much, maybe just look for some afermarket OEM pads/rotors.

not from a dealer. from M and J auto on mill street. I just spoke with Jason from Foreign Auto, and he quoted me just as much and that was with used calipers from a 97 jetta.

this is really cruddy right before the holidays. I need to save as much dough as i can

Do it yourself with parts from CT. For my 88 Jetta, I bought rotors and pads for $60 I think. These were non-vented rotors - $11 each.

i was quoted $400 at Volskwagen for front calipers and rotors and rear rotors with labor, so yes that is really high, as for the second part no where is cheaper than D.I.Y.

I would say that is an excellent price if they are in good condition.
Even a junkyard won't seel that much stuff for that cheap.
