Shop stories....

So the other day my dad comes home, asks me if I have a sec to take the Escort for a ride as he say's it's making some clunking noises. So I grab my coat and we go for a spin. I'm driving, and sure enough there's issues. Accel is fine, breaking is fine, but when turning or coasting it makes a lovely little vibration in the drivers front end. My first thought is what the hell? I just went over this thing from head to toe when I fixed the damage from the deer and it was mint Get home, pop up the front end and everything is rock solid, bearings, ball joints and all the other good stuff is fine, no play that I can feel at all through moving the tires. I figure it was the CV's crapping out. Not unwise, the car has 255k on it and gets driven on some pretty bad roads. It's -15 out so we put it down, and I'll look at it on the weekend. Of course between the 4 days it's steadilly getting worse. Put it up again, same deal the suspension is rock solid, can only feel a slight thud in the tires when I move it, but I can't track it down as it was pretty subtle. I decide I'm going to pull the wheel off for further investigation. Go to pull the lugs off, and the're loose as hell Well that would do it. So I check all my wheels, and they're all loose. The passenger rear was even missing a lug I check the rims and they're fine so I re-torque all the lugs to spec and whip a new lug on there. Take it for a spin and all the problems are gone as expected. But WTF about the loose lugs, I haven't touched that car forever, and neither has my dad

The next day it dawns on us, the last time the wheels were off was at safety, at Crappy Tire. Coincidentally, 2 days after it came back from Crappy Tire, the #2 injector harness also mysteriously worked its way off the injector as well, my dad drove home from Hamilton on 3 cylinders Just can't kill that 1.9

For some reason I'm not surprised by this either. I know they don't like me over there because I've raised some hell over their incompetence before, but WTF?

So, anybody else have any crazy stories like this?

Matt

Nine times out of ten the majority of people who talk shit down here don't even have any of the crap they talk about on their car. I drive an 8 year old domestic and barely give two shits about it. I beat the hell out of it and it begs for more, just like your girlfriend. Go ahead, cut me off. I dare ya.

My buddy got his tires changed at CT and the kid that drove his neon into the garage grinded and stalled that thing like a bitch (lepiszem it was my buddy ryan the guy that was with us sat or sun). We went to Tim Hortons and had some stuff took maybe 1 hour jus sitting and talking eventually we come back to CT. We get in the car to start it and all his Temp guages are past HIGH into the red zone. The stock temp guage on the dash was way past the red. We asked what the fuck was going on they denied they drove it but there were mysterious burnout marks in the back parking lot. We cooled down and were jus coming out onto the street and 1st is ok. 2nd gone, 3rd gone, 4th sometimes, and 5th was completly dead. They fucked his car over and i think hes gunna try n sue em cuz he had to buy a new tranny.

So yeah crappy tire sucks. :fuckyou:

That's funny you should mention this story because i know this guy very well. Get it right though he was going straight when the wheel fell off and the car is still a mess which is why he has it booked at our shop to have it put back on the frame machine and straightened properly, his power steering pulley rubs on the damn frame which is still bent so we can't get his new motor in.

Airbrushing .....etc. .................

the list goes on our minimum project when said and done is about $20000
