Great Local Shop (Ritchie Automotive)

Great overall shop that is next door to my office, they have done some great work for me (anything from brake jobs, oil changes, locker installs to tapping my manifold for a EGT Probe.. )

Good Guys and very reasonably priced. Tell them Tom from next door sent ya.

Simply because by the time I get the oil and the filter, then throw the truck on the hoist, its no longer worth my time. I use the hoist for doing thing I enjoy, not things that I can easily write off as a business expense.

You are not a true car person unless you do all your own oil changes

------------------
This is where you type a bunch of shit about how awesome your car is. FACT: It's been scientifically proven that the more shit you write in here the less cool your car is. Nine times out of ten the majority of people who talk shit down here don't even have any of the crap they talk about on their car. I drive an 8 year old domestic and barely give two shits about it. I beat the hell out of it and it begs for more, just like your girlfriend. Go ahead, cut me off. I dare ya.

No, I am pretty sure that puts you under a cheap car person, not a true one.

No, But lets get serious.

My ex truck (as I sold it) weighed 8000LB, Required a special filter from Ford, and 14L of oil...

The sheer amount of time waiting for the oil to drain is already a pain in itself.

You can just do what I do. I get Mobile 1, go into the garage that I take my car into. I get them to change the oil and filter and they subtract the cost of them using their oil and put mine in instead. Simple as pie.

I dont see why people dont go to small shops, and I mean small customer orientated shops not Jiffy Lube etc, to get their oil changes done. It cost like $6 more to get them to do it then it does for me to do it myself. I think that its more than worth it. Plus if they screw up its their responsibility to fix it. If I screw up its my problem. Not that I could really screw up an oil change or anything though. At least not yet LOL. Ive done like 100 of them and no problems yet.

i hear ya man

were do u take ur car.. i don't wanna take my car to honda anymore, because they charge an arm and a leg for oil changes

but i do want to start using mobile one and getting the "discount"

i remember one time i was such in a rush when doing an oil change that i forgot to put the drain plug back on *smacks head*

ever since that day, i never do it my self

u always get a few drips of oil on the drive way, a mess afterwords.

im at the point in my life that i will pay a little more to have less of a headache

Thats right. Because like Crix said, $6 makes you cheap, considering the hassle it is to change oil.

I'd rather have a garage do it for numerous reasons myself. Mostly because laying on the ground dealing with the oil sucks, and because I cannot safely and convieniently dispose of used oils/fluids not to mention I'm not often the most environmentally conscience person.

I mainly stopped going to oil change places because of the up selling they always use.

I stop going to small-shops because of work schedule's. And when you buy oil on sale you usually save 20bux. I would for sure go to shop's if I could write it off. But being a student you tend to try and save money!
