two things... ALS body guys, and website for front bumpers

first off, anyone deal with ALS body, they quoted me 800 (taxes in) for the body work i need, authority / bac quoted me 1400 (taxes in) so if anyone has dealt wit them, lemme know, i would love to save 600 if the quality of work will be the same. second, since i'm saving so much, i wanna know if their is a website that acutally shows front bumpers on 90-93 tegras with body kits, and as many body kits as possible, the only i've found basically is the KAMINARI, which i like, anyone know people who carry kaminari. THanx to any one who reply's, would really like to spruce up my front end!!

This is one of the companies I deal with. If you want anything from them at a decent price, let me know and I can order a bumper for you.
Kaminari is also UBER pricey (EX, 2001+ Civic lip kit MSRP is $1100) but I can get it.
Send me an email at kris@underground-highway.com and well work something out for sure (will be the cheapest price you can find! )

If you are looking for good quality front bumpers check aitracing.com. Rudetrini can get you anyone of those front bumpers for $400 CDN. You may have to meet him in Mississauga to get it, but the quality and price is great. As for painting; I got a very high quote from BAC to paint my front bumper. It wasnt John that gave me the quote it was the older guy. His quote was 30% higher then every other quote I got. I am getting my bumper painted by a shop in Waterloo next week. I'll let you know how the quality is because the price is great.

yo, thanks for all the reply's people - the reason i think that John's quote is so high versus the guys at ALS is because John wants to replace the entire rear quarter panels (both, their's only rust on the edges of each where the curve of the wheel well ends, i know that wuz very techincal word usage, meh!) and the guy at ALS is just gonna weld out the small areas that are rusted and then make a new piece, which is why i'm here, asking if anyone has ever dealt with them and how their 'new pieces' come out, does it look good - anybody?????

Never Delt with ALS, but I would not recommand welding/fixing as you will see rust come back within a few years. Replacing 1/4 panels is the way to go for sure. Yes a bit more money but get it done properly.

Nicks right no matter what rust is going to come back, best way to go is getting all new panles. Spend the extra cash now then you wont be dissapointed later down the road.

hmmmmmm... why would gettin complete new ones help matters so much more vs. just replacing the damaged area, it'll all be new steel in the end right? i'm confused (and not intellectually inclined towards cars as much as i should be)

Even tough they weld new steel there is still old steel at some point more prone to rust. Also where the welds will be done there will be pores left that will allow moisture and rust ill make its way back, mostly from the old part of the panel. We learned about this corrosion stuff in school
You have to realize that the weld material and the existing panel are differnt types of metal and one can act as a catode while the other as an anode and the moisture can be the liquid required (electrolysis (sp.)) to form a mini battery that will cary metal from one panel and deposit it to the weld seam. Anyways that is a short explanation of what could happen and why rust will come back.

^^ forget all the technical mumbo jumbo....

Think of it this way... If part of the panel already rusted, then even if you replace the effected part, you have a very good chance of it rusting somewhere else. If you replace the whole panel its all new metal, and will last that much longer.
