yeah but nobody talked to them. 3-4 of my good friends.

same as when I showed up a month or so back and nobody said jack shit to me or kelly even tho we did Laps for about 2 hours.

come on now.. ive heard ppl complaining about this before.. and since when was it everybody else's responsibility to come up to people we dont know... you come up to other people and say hi.. i thought it was you who i was talking to with someone else at the one meet...

no need for everyone to be blaming the people that are there every week.. if you wanna be welcomed.. introduce yourselves.. its not only everyone elses responsibility... two way street here

yeah I met scott, met up with nick, and thats about it. trix you just stood there and pretended we didn't exist. the other 75 people didn't even talk to us when we were standing nearby as we tried to catch in on a conversation or 2 while we walked around and looked at cars.

longworth was there with Crazy (bill) , meaghan, christine for sure, maybe some other people too... they said not a single person lifted a finger to even say Hi.

Its really NOT a 2 way street, i'm sorry. as a club trying to grow and improve, shouldn't you NOT automatically assume that the other person is wrong? Most new people are potential members, are they not? I show up, I dont know anybody, never seen anybody before, dont even know if anybody recognizes my car, and i'm supposed to do rounds like the morning intern? what, like take notes and pictures so that I can remember everything all at once? It doesn't work like that. if you want the club to grow and be recieved well you have to be friendly and open to new people... I'm not trying to compare anything but if you show up to one of my meets there will be 2-3 people walking to your car before you have your seatbelt off. you risk a lot as a club by blatantly ignoring anybody who you don't already know. All it takes is a couple people to come over and have a conversation. Honestly, scott, you walked right by 3 times before I suggested that you stop making people scratch the hell out of your fender.

the meet I showed up to I posted i was coming to my first meet with 2 weeks notice and shots of my car are in my sig. there is no way that 100% of you did not know who I was when I rolled in, but nobody said a word. thats really sad. For 2 hours I walked around with kelly and hung out near my car and not 1 single person made the slightest effort to even look at us... does that strike you as normal?

honestly I didn't even want to get into this. It happened some time ago and I said nothing, I am a decent guy, I know most of you aren't even legal to drink yet, highschool persists to 40 for some people. but I met with a friend for 5 minutes today and I just did NOT want to hear that the first impression you guys made was to ignore her. I was hoping to hear how she was impressed by the car wash, your articles in the paper, your cruises, but instead you didn't even walk over to say hi? WTF? I smacked my palm against my forehead in amazement I was like, how can you kids still be getting away with this? you can't still be acting like the 7thgrade lunch room, can you?

obviously people have said something before and I am not the first. hopefully I am the last... The head of the NCRA, the race director of CSCS, the SoloII champion of Ontario and WOSCA director, Myself, 3 NHRA/IHRA pro-mod Race teams, 2 free-lance column writers for canadian magazines like SCN, PAS, and others, several show directors, 2 car dealerships, and a quarter of the tuners in SW ontario are within 1 phone call of the people you so rudely blew off wednesday night... not exactly your brightest move yet as a club.... Just........ fix it. before it comes back to you. its not that hard to be friendly.

Listen man. I don't have much time to reply right now, on my way to work. But as a VM admin I like to consider my self the welcome wagon. Do you honestly think this club has gotten were it is today by "ignoring" people. Not a chance man. Were sorry for dissapointing you but the meets are getting just way too big to keep with everyone that shows up. My best friends show up and I dont even realize they are there for the first 30 minutes. I'm sorry yu feel this way. But melissa is right, the welcome wagon is hard to do with 100+ people at a meet. Not everyone is there to join a club but to chill with their friends. The people that want to join usually ask for me or nick or alex to talk to. Then all the introducing goes down on the internet, and when you come out to a meet, you officially introduce yourselves to anybody thats part of VM. Its alot harder running a club of 100+ people then you think. I cant be introducing my self to everyone that comes into the car meet. I gota have my fun with my friends. Its no ones job, or obligation, but I agree it is a good thing to do. Unfortunately people get missed. But its nothing to be insulted by. If this steers your friends away from this club then I feel bad for them. Because the things we do for the community and are selves are amazing, and they just keep getting better. To not have someone "talk" to you when your amongst 70 strangers is not that big of a deal. I'm sorry there isn't more hectors from FATF that say "Hey Snowman" it just doesn't work like that. We have too many other things pon are mind. But if you knew anything about the admins and members in this club, its that just come over, introduce yourself, and BAAAAM no more worries about being ignored.

The welcome wagon is closed. Its up to new prospective members to come introduce themselves. If I get the chance I will walk over to someone, but that rarely happens because of the stuff going on behind the scenes with this club. Never an oopertunity.

Thanks!

Hey Jeff, i hear what you are saying, but most of as legal drinking age, and well out of highschool.
And as for no one talking to them. I personally walked over the people that were sitting closes to that Civic (about 5 guys and 1 or two ladies)
I said hey guys, i snapped a few pics, complemented the car, and then one guy said, make sure you take some pics of the blue one as well. I said, already did.
I mean what else could i do , they didn't even introduce themselvs.

I know ppl are shy, and so am I, hopefully they will make it out again and not hold this against us.
Every week i introduce myself to at least 2-3 new guys that never came out before. Honestly i don't always remeber their names the first time, but i can associate at least car to face for the next time.

Yah, no one talks to me either. Only the losers like Kyle.

No but seriously, I can see everyone going into their own "groups" as well. I've talked to people outside of the club, and most people just leave or don't come back the next week because everyone is "segragated".

I would feel intimidated too if there were 10 to 15 people all standing by their "turbo" this and "turbo" that, and when you go up to ask them anything about it they don't say anything because 1) they have no fucking idea what they are talking about and they just paid to have it done or 2) they are too rude to tell you about their rides.

But on the other side of the park, it's really hard (espically for admins) to meet everyone, and remember everyones name. I feel bad for Nick, he tries really hard to get to know everyone but it is impossible. I run www.GenerationDub.com, and unless I have met you several times, and talk to you constantly, you'll be lucky if I remember your user name let alone your girlfriend and what she looks like. Think about it. Even if you have 200 members, it's easy to remember the "head" members name, but it's impossible to remember everyone back. It's like being a school teacher. Everyone knows the princple, but the princple only knows the bad kids.

I also have to say Kyle makes a good point. From the time i pull in the lot until i get in the car to leave i do not stop , talking, running around, etc.
I talk to as many people as i can, sometimes to even 2 or 3 ppl at the same time and i can't get to even say HI to everyone who is there.
I'm acctually thinking of setting up a small booth where the admins can stay and give out information and introduce themselvs to anyone who comes by.

Just to throw another point out there...

The Wednesday meets aren't an official VM meet...they are a place where any car tuner can come and hang out. Think of it as going to a local Timmies and doing the same...the only difference is that VM went and got permission to be there so the cops won't bother us.

I bet u that over 60% of the people at the Wednesday meets aren't even VM members...and there's no problem with that. But if u want to really see what VM is, then come to an official VM meet that is posted in the Events forum.

Another thing too...
People do come to Wednesday meets with their friends and none of them even have a clue what VM is. So there are times when people just wanna hang out with their friends and chat cars and check out the other cars.

But again, I say, if u wanna see what VM is really about, come to an Official VM meet.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKAY BUDDY

listen, i stay calm for a while but this is bullshit... for 1. anybody here, even my good friends now, such as mike and kyle, KNOW that when i meet someone i am not outgoing at all, i am quite shy... and then once i get to know someone then i talk more.. so sorry i wasn't sitting there chatting it up with you and your girlfriend liek i've known you for years... as far as i remember.. we talked for a couple mins, and then the conversation died.. theres more than just myself in the conversation.. so dont be so rude...

like it has been mentioned in the other posts... half the people there aren't even part of VM... yes there are going to be little groups within the whole meet, just like there is EVERYWHERE ELSE in life.. at your work, does everybody like everybody and all hang out together all the time?! NO... some people get along with others better than different memebers in the club... i dont think the group that i hang out with is that intimidating.. if you want to come over and talk, we are all there to meet you and talk..

think about it this way... you see how you dont wanna come up and say whats up to us? well why is it so surprising that we don't say whats up to you? new meetings when you've only takled to people on the internet can be quite awkward, and humans don't like being in awkward situations.. but if this bothered you so much, i would have figured you would have wanted to say hi and get in the club.. i didn't know a single person in this club until i went to one meet and INTRODUCED MYSELF and now i have a good group of friends....

simple as that... it IS a two way street...

OK enough of this, the admins, found a solution to this and it will be implemented starting next meet.

Thank You for your input and suggestions :tounge:
