Robotics/Automation Class of '05 - Team Innomation

Just wanted to share some pics of my 3rd year project. figured there'd be a couple people interested in this kind of stuff...

Every year the R&A students do a group project... "Team Innomation" has 17 members. We are making an assembly line that packages candy in blister packs.. (just like gum!).. we have only $2000 to spend + donations and equipment from past years..

Punch Die cutting paper

Finished product minus the heat seal and a "Paul Fontes Signature Series" alan key.. all sitting on top our pimp die frame. I suck at stick welding.. (MIG was broken)

me and my buddy Brandon built this die. the pictures do not give any justace to the amount of work that went into designing and building this.. (?60 to 80 hours?) In our programe we get only a General Machining credit so I am extreemly proud of this assembly.. we were way over our heads with this... AND IT WORKS (video link below)

"MODTEK" on the left (the other of two teams) they are making an assembly line to make poker kits.. (more pics below). Someone is about to get a large file across the back.

I swear, this thing will cut your fucking hand off!!

you cant see it.. but in there somewhere is a something to heat and then vacuum forum the blister packs..

another radom pic.. the wires/phnumatics have since been cleaned up.

Cabinet #1. I would get fired if i designed a cabinet like this at work.. LOL.. but it does the job.

Tools used.

.....

we have a broad range of maching skills.....

some pics of "MODTEK" poker kit assembly line.

LMAO at Brandon

Owned by no mig welder. That arc welder is a monster :tounge: #1 reason we used my mig for the Baja. Welds look good enough considering.

All ready for Wednesday I take it.

This is where you type a bunch of shit about how awesome your car is. FACT: It's been scientifically proven that the more shit you write in here the less cool your car is. Nine times out of ten the majority of people who talk shit down here don't even have any of the crap they talk about on their car. I drive an 8 year old domestic and barely give two shits about it. I beat the hell out of it and it begs for more, just like your girlfriend. Go ahead, cut me off. I dare ya.

honestly, no pics. But I have the finished product at home As well as the finished products of the other two groups (CD packaging - lame, and film packaging - lame). Seems like everyone "packages" shit, rather than an assembly process.

Boo to you, packagers, boo to you.

Real cool Paul, keep up the good work. I'm going into to D&A this year but I may switch over to R&A depending on how I like it.

I think a group did a pill packaging plant one year that I saw.

you will spend a lot more time doing math and 3d CAD in D&A.. in R&A you will do programming/electronics instead.
