Actually I moved all the photos onto my computer last night and I took 418 of them. I began converting them and got about 20 or so done...

Well, after a short departure, thinking that a prosumer point and shoot would cut it.. I am back to the DSLR world.

After selling the boat, I ended up picking up a Canon 5D and a 24-105 F4L Lense. Next in line is a 16-35L F2.8, and im done (I really, really hope)

It appears you are Bill, I considered switching to Nikon, but then I realized they don't offer a good camera. :P

No seriously, Nikon doesnt make a full frame sensored camera.. thats a bummer.

rumors are maybe this year... but well see... i dont think many people would even relize the diffrence. I went with Nikon because it felt better in my hands then the Rebel XTi. Now the bigger Canons 5D, 30D ect all are extreme cameras, and were outta my price range.

Well, here is my issue with that thought. I am the sort of guy that likes to have most perspectives dealt with when/if im shooting, so with my previous camera, a 20D, I went out and gathered up a bunch of lenses to fill that perspective, then I tried out a 5D, told myself I would sell everything I have and start fresh with a 5D.

A 20D with a 17-35mm L Lense, and a 28-105mm lense gives me the same perspective as a 5D with my single 24-105mm L lense.

At 24mm, I am significantly wider then I was on the 20D at 17mm (with 1.6x mangification effect) I am only at 27.2mm

Not to mention the fact that any Image Stabilizing Lenses that I had, were almost useless as image stabilizers have alot of issues with the 1.6x magnification.

Thats my major gripe with the whole magnification factor thing.

I have been able to cut down from 4-5 lenses, to 1 current lense, and the plan to buy a 100-400 for car events.

Ya, not a cheap camera, but worth every penny. You definately get what you pay for, same thing goes lense wise. I will never again buy a non L lense.

For sure, I totally know what your tlaking about. BUT not everyone has thousands of dollars to spend on a full frame camera. And even alot of PROs dont use a use FF.

But if you have the cash, I woulda bought the best aswell. And the 5D is a serious peice of gear. It makes my D80 feel like a toy. And L glass, well I think most nikon guys do have white lense envy too.

I don't blame you on buying a Nikon at that level Bill. I personally loved my 300D, but I can't stand the XT. It feels like such a piece of crap. 20D for me!

You can't really consider a photographer a professional if he is not shooting with a pro camera. Most guys I know that are shooting professionally, are shooting with 1DS's and they have 5D's as backups. Alot of guys have 5D's and use 20D/30D's as backups.

I agree. I thought about getting a XTi because of the sensor cleaning feature to kind of hold me off on buying the 5D, but I couldnt even keep it together in my hands.. way to small and non camera like for my liking.

Pardon my lack of knowledge...

I've been looking at a new camera for some time now.

I'm not a photographer by any means, i just enjoy taking pictures. I want someting better then a point and shoot, but don't think I need a DSLR.

Any cameras I should look at?

I've been looking at FujiFilms' s8100fd/s8000fd/s1000fd.

They are not DSLR nor are they 'PnS'

Any comments are greatly appreciated!
