Computers Canada of London? BS!
So, I was in london on wednesday and I was in search of some memory and a new hard drive for a machine I just purchased. So here I was, I passed by what looked to be an exact replica of a Canada Computers sign, and I took little notice to the fact that it was worded backwards. I stopped, went inside and this didnt resemble Canada Computers at all, however the uniforms, signs and everything were exactly the same.
That pissed me off, so I asked if they were associated, he said no, but also told me that they have mostly everything in stock, just not on display, in the warehouse which he specified was exactly 100ft away (meanwhile the width of the building was at maximum 40ft). So I asked if they had any 500GB or 750GB drives in this magical warehouse he spoke of. No signs.. then I asked if they had any laptop ram, no signs either.. What a horrible waste of time, and the worst part is.. they are attempting to use the good name Canada Computers has made for themselves (Dont get me wrong.. they didnt make a good name in anyway by their customer service, which is absolutely terrible.. they simply made a good name for themselves by having several products in stock at incredible low prices). Well, thats the end of my rant. ------------------ Weather in Kitchener: ![]() (And when updated) |

theres actually a legality issue there, if i remember correctly its called "passing off"
Canada Computers could technically sue this company for the use of the name because it causes Canada Computers to lose control of their business reputation. They could get damages awarded to them or an injunction put in place to prevent this Computers Canada from continuing to use that as their name all because it can lead people to believe the two companies are somehow related. I know its kind of useless information but I did a big case study on it in my business law class last semester so its kind of neat to see it in a real life situation. ------------------ Jackie 2002 Mazda Protege |
