Altima Coupe has arrived

Rolling into work friday and notice two new deliveries of Altimas up front, thought nothing of it since i didnt see them from the side, thinking another 2 altima sedans that Greg thinks he needs...it wasnt until i was told to check the cars in that the delivery sheet read: Altima 2 dr coupe...i shit myself LOL we ended up getting a silver 2.5S in a 6 speed manual, and a 3.5SE with a 4 speed non-CVT...the 2.5S pulls for such a small engine, i didnt drive the 3.5 but it probably would feel much better with a 6 speed manual to it...the only flaw about the Altima coupe is the rear end, it defiantly needs some sort of spoiler just to give it some style and sporty-ness. Other then that, the fully loaded 2.5S had blue tooth, etc etc...and was a nicely fully loaded vehicle.

any inputs? lol

I agree with you about the back. Looks like somethings missing.

If you want a Nissan with the 3.5L, RWD and 6 speed, they already have one.. Its just badged as a 350z...

There's no way they'd make the Altima coupe RWD when they already have the 350..

cost would be dumb, it would be smarter to get the 350z...not everything needs to be RWD hi-power Kael.

I'm sure I'm missing a few here, but do you catch my drift?

At one point almost all Nissan had was sports cars/sport sedans/sport coupes. Look what they have now. Shite. New Sentra? Garbage. Versa? Tin can. Maxima, FWD & large. 350? Its ok, but no OEM FI. Altima? Meh.

They need to go back to their roots, and start bringing fun cars over to North America. Another FWD slowmobile is why Nissan is loosing over here.

the Versa is decent ride in a 6 speed manual for such an underpowered little bugger, at 122hp i believe it was 1.8L I-4 its a decent ride. The 350z is over rated and dont like 'em much, the new Altimas are too wide, the Maximas got taller and heavier...the new altima coupe is the only thing decent now...speaking of which, the 2.5S already sold

Did you miss the whole 350z thing?? Making the altima coupe RWD is just making another 350z, why would they do that?!??!?

Did you miss my whole post? Nissan has made variations of cars for a long time. Look at the Bluebird/Avenir/Pulsar. I'm sure they were all competing with each other, yet they all did moderately well. So why not make it sporty with RWD, or the very least forced induction. Why can't it run alongside of the 350?

IMO, Nissan is pulling a Toyota (*cough*bitch*cough*) move. They have no more fun cars. If you look at my list, there are 9 "sports" cars there, all within the same generation (bare in mind, there were variations). I can count on one hand....actually one finger how many sports cars Nissan has now. One. The 350. Thats it. No more turbo. No high revving engines. All FWD crap.

My opinion, take it or leave it. Nissan has made many fucked up moves, and will probably continue to do so.

Fuck, the least they could do is make an SE-R version with Brembo brakes and a super or turbo charger running 5psi. A fool can dream....

Rumour has it that there will be a SER model within the next few years, 350z is coming with a twin turbo set up after the GTR is released, which will have 3 trim levels the 400hp 450hp and the 530hp, not sure if this is true but doing alot of business for Waterloo Nissan talking to the big wigs @ head office this is what they tell me so who knows.

How many of those cars on your list were ever sold here??? The north american market simply doesn't support cars like that, especially if they're doubling up in the same segment.

Nissan and Toyota didn't make a *bitch* move, they cut out cars that weren't making them money.. They aren't in the business to keep a handful of enthousiasts happy, they're in the business of making money from selling cars. If theres no money in a segment, they're not going to bother with it.

As for the lack of boosted engines, the current 350z/G35 coupe make a substantial amount more power than the old twin turbo 300zx did stock, and to the vast majority of their consumers stock is what matters.. To the handful that want more power, the aftermarket companies are there to help(look at 'hollywoodG35', twin turbo G35 coupe).

IMO putting a boosted 3.5L in a FWD car is just plain stupid, it already makes ALOT of power for a FWD car, on boost it would just be ridiculous.

I am sorry sir, I wasnt aware I was not allowed to have an opinion.

Yes, Toyota did make a bitch move. Corola for example. RWD to AWD to FWD w/ no power. And now its gone. Toyota has no more sports car. So imo, bitch move. And I'm quite aware those cars were never marketed here, and thats why I think Nissan has a problem, because there is a definite market for it, and you would be an ignorant fool to believe otherwise.

So piss off.

Simply amazing... I never once said you can't have an opinion... All I said was that its not a bitch move to cut out cars that aren't making money, its a smart business decision.

FWD cars are MUCH more economical to produce, especially the drivetrains, and to 90% of consumers, they don't care which wheels are driven as long as the car drives.

Sure I'd LOVE to have companies cater to what I want, but the enthousiast market is a tiny niche, better left to companies like Lotus. Hell, even the S2000 was softened up quite a bit in order to help it sell..
