Buying earphones -- help!

My iPod earphones kicked the bucket, and I need a new set. I want to buy a set of Shure SE210's from a guy off a forum.. they are gently used for 2 weeks, cleaned and disinfected the rubber pieces.. $120 shipped.

Anyone have recommendations or warnings about buying used earphones?? Anyone own these and can vouch for them?

I've never bought used ones before, but I did buy a replacement set of iPod earphones from eBay, brand new. When they arrived, not only were they a fake, cheap knockoff, but they broke within 10 min of opening the package

Honestly, the best pair of earphones (and I've tried MANY, because I'm very rough on my gear and go through headphones on a monthly basis) were under $20 and came from Wal-Mart- they're those steel noise-reduction earbuds, and they had identical sound quality to the original iPod earphones WITH the added bonus of fitting in the ear better and blocking outside sounds. I've had them for about two months now and they haven't broken, which is a record for me. I don't know if there are Wal-Marts in Australia, though?

Yeah I'm very well aware of fakes on eBay, I wrote a guide on spotting fake Sennheiser CX300's.. it shot me up to top 100 reviewer on eBay... :P

I know these are real, the user did not like the fit and is going back to Shure E2C, so to my benefit I can get them for $120.. still warranty till Dec 2009 apparently.

I dunno might give them a shot..

Sennheiser ftw..

i use Sony MDR V150, they are okay... good for music writting, they work well with my ipod video, and i am still using the ipod buds for my touch.

i would like better but i bought them brand new for $19.99, i used to have Sennheiser hd 205 but sold them to a friend.

dont buy them used.. you need those things to be fresh

What kind of music do you like?

For Rock I'd recommend going for something like a Grado SSR80 , you can also go for the SR225 and SR325i, but they will need amplification.

Denon AH-D2000 is also very nice headphone, a bit too much Bass for my taste, but perfect for someone that likes a lot of Bass.

Don't buy in-ear used, disinfected or not, it's disgusting.

What about the Skull Candy Full Metal Jacket?

Dell : Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket Earbud - 9mm - Pink : Speakers & Headphones : Home & Home Office

Minus the pink :P

PS: i couldn't stand the CX300's, cord noise was ridiculous, everytime it hit any clothing it transmitted like a stethescope.. just the cord design was terrible, like the ribbed design

Skull Candy are nice looking but they sounds like crap

you're on the right track with the shure's, I would also take a look at the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3's
Earphones | iPod Earphones | Ultimate Ears super.fi 3 Studio | Ultimate Ears

I've heard decent reviews about the Klipsch products as well - Custom-1 Headphones, Earphones, Noise-Isolating Headphones

Since we're on the topic of headphones.

I've been meaning to order the Motorola S9 Bluetooth Headphones. I read a bunch of reviews on them on the net but I'm just wondering if anyone has actually tried them?

Amazon.com: Motorola MOTOROKR S9 Bluetooth Active Headphones [Motorola Retail Packaging]: Cell Phones & Service

My primary use for them will be for snowboarding in the winter and for the driving range in the summer.

I have a Sumsung T10 mp3 player that has Bluetooth also.
