Student cell phone plan

Hi guys
I'm starting uni (Laurier) in a couple weeks, and my rogers pay as you go phone is on its last legs, and I'm tired of paying $.33/min now that I'm using it more.

Just wondering if any of you are familiar with any good cell phone plans for students. I'd like a cheap phone, free evenings and weekends, decent number of daytime minutes, and some long distance deal (calling to London, ON and Mississauga/Toronto)

Doesn't much matter to me what company, just wondering if any of you know what kind of deals exist and where I can look.

Thanks!

I use rogers, with taxes and everything I pay about 32 a month for 150 Daytime minutes with free evenings and weekends, and my long distance is 0.35/min.

I have the pay and talk from Telus. I either hardly use the phone, or can't get off it. Most times it sits in the car for when I need it. It's ok price wise, 29c/min in your home area but 54c/min elsewhere. I'm all over the place so I'm usually always making long distance calls at 54c/min The Telus customer service is great though, excellent coverage area, and the phone evenworked during the blackout - only lost service for like 2 min. I can also use the phone whenever I want, none of this daytime, night time BS

My opinion, if you're just starting school this year, wait until after you start school. I know at Coconut the first month I started you could have got a deal on anything. Credit card companies out the wazoo offering their cards, phone companies offering free phones or services if you sign up, etc.

BTW: Good luck in the next step. It's a lot more fun (but work ) than high school IMO.

Matt

This is where you type a bunch of shit about how awesome your car is. FACT: It's been scientifically proven that the more shit you write in here the less cool your car is. Nine times out of ten the majority of people who talk shit down here don't even have any of the crap they talk about on their car. I drive an 8 year old domestic and barely give two shits about it. I beat the hell out of it and it begs for more, just like your girlfriend. Go ahead, cut me off. I dare ya.

all i know is that i have a sick plan BUT its not cheap...
i have a mike phone and my pkg is $40 for 400 mins during the day, long distance included (after that its like $0.10 or $0.15/min) and i have the unltd n &w starting at 6pm (again its ld included) for an addtl $30/month
but this is pretty much what i use for a regular phone (its way cheaper) but downside is 3 yr contract, and phones are insane expensive. meh but i do have the cool walkie talkie function... its good to get in touch w/ my family in windsor since they have the same phones.
