I've gone to court before for a ticket, but never had a First Attendace Meeting. So, has anyone here had one before and if so, what is it like??? Does the cop have to be there???
Do u just sit in a room and discuss the ticket???

I know not to release any evidence that I may have as it could be used if I choose to go to court.

This is for the red lights on the license plate ticket I got. I'm going into the meeting determined that if they don't drop the ticket, I'll go straight to court, no considerations.

I have went in.

basically it's just going in... talking to the Prosecutor I guess....and depending on what you tell him or how much of an "excuse" you have... he'll decide to lower charge or drop all together on the spot... or do nothing at all.
and proceed to the hearing on a later date...

they dropped my careless that way(in exchange for 8 hrs driving school)

Actually, its a JOP (Justice of the Peace) that you talk to.
You sit with him only and explain why you are there (generally because they have the wrong man...yeah right...hehehe)
I started to tell him my reasoning and he just kept interupting me saying "No, you want the charges lowered" I finnally said 'Yes' and he said 'Ok, now you fine is for 10kmh over in a 100kmh zone. Wait for your name to be called.'
I then waited to see a judge in an office and some secretary read out all this shit real fast (I couldnt understand what she was saying, I just kept saying "yes ma'am") The judge didnt even look up from whatever he was doing. Just signed my paper and said 'Pay your $100 on your way out' and that was that!

i've done it twice...the first time was with a prosecutor who talked to the JOP for me...with that one I talked to the guy in plain english about the ticket and how I was a student and shit...the other time I went right into the JOP and she carved me up...
