I think I understand what is going on here. the confusion it with the fact that not everyone is getting pulled over.

All lights, other than the ones factory installed are illegal to use while your vehicle is on a road or highway. It is not legal to change you markers, front and side to other colors, underglows are the same as well as those washer pissers with the leds. You can however use these lights for show.

If you get away with it doesn't make it legal. Cops discection. Those plastic coverplates for you liscence are illegal too. I have them on my car and have not been pulled over but I know others who have.

ive heard that below the bumper its fine

ive had underlights on my car turned on anytime im driving after dusk since 2002 and never had a problem till last week. Ive gone threw ride checks, ive been pulled over for other things all with the lights on and they were never mentioned

but last week i was pulled over on the 401 at 5:54am (still dark out) and OPP chick pulled me over asking me "whats with the underlights" i said... "uhmm, i dont know, how am i suposed to answer that officer?"

"licence, registration and insurance please sir"

takes my stuff, goes to her car, comes back with a ticket cuz my friggen insurance slip was expired by a week *mad* but she said my underlights were installed corectly and there was no problem.

I've also asked cops in person what the law says about them and they couldent give me a straight answer.

so i think its a kinda gray area

the thing i majorly hear is that RED WHITE & BLUE are illigal no matter what, other then that i always here if u cant see bulb ur fine.

i agree with kace on the fact taht its pritty much up to the mood of ur cop that day, but as for the other stuff, colours and sides and all that, if its below the bumper its fair play ( minus blue white & red )

HAHA, not exactly........the reflected light comes off the front end of your car.....unlike the reflected light of underglows that comes off the road.

It also reflects off your underbody and your wheels/tires. Either way, it's reflected light.

You're causing a visual distraction, that's where you get nailed.

A cop will give you a ticket for underglow if he feels like it, and he has every right to do so because he'll just say he was visually distracted, and you lose in court.

As soon as you start distracting other drivers towards your car, you have no chance.

Going by that, all Lambo's and Ferarri's and nice cars in general, should get tickets......they cause the biggest distraction of all.

To you, coz you're young and attracted by pretty things.

If a Ferrari pulled up beside my dad he wouldn't give 2 shits. If a riced out Avenger drove by with flashing red lights underneath it, chances are he'd go "what the fuck", look away from the road.

maybe your dad who doesn't give a shit about cars, otherwise i'm pretty sure any sane person would be turning there head right around to stare at it. i can tell you from experience of driving these cars, as well as mine without gay flashing lights all over the place that i turn 80% of people's heads to stare at me...

like Kace said...

1. white and amber facing forward.
2. white, amber and red facing in the rear.

anything else is illegal. its just whether the cop wants to pull you or not.

look it up, under "lighting" or "lamps" in the HTA.

done. and done.

If people want neon lights then install a switch n keep them off while driving on city roads. Its common sense that on a city road they are deemed illegal which they should be, when people pull into a meet/show they turn them on its as easy at that.

ya, its not illegal to have them on in a parking lot.

no HTA offence is illegal in a parking lot. just on't be a tool, or you will get a dangerous operation of a motor vehicle charge under the criminal code.
