Muffler Ticket in Grand Bend
I find this to be "Unheard of" in Grand Bend....ive lived in grand bend for the last 18 years of my life....and ive had this car for 3 years now....all three years in grand bend and i have NEVER heard of gettin a ticket for ur muffler being too loud.....it was a saturday morning when my buddy got his ticket....and hes had his car as long as ive had mine. so obviously hes pissed as am i....First of all...its Grand Bend...second of all....there people who BLARE there music on the street...including the stores themselves....third what about the damn harleys.....i mean i really dont understand this muffler being too loud....OH and he also got a ticket for "improper muffler"....hes takin it to court because how can u tell how loud it really is without a db meter right....anyways for those of u heading to grand bend just be careful....thought id just throw this outthere
Cheers ------------------ |

from what I have heard the ticket for a loud muffler is up to the officer's discretion...no dB meter is needed. Was your buddy doing anything that would attract attention to his car?

im sorry... but im going to say this
every god damn time im in grand bend, there is ussaly one little fuckin car that is so stock, with a loud muffler, and he wants to compete with a harley for sound, but he keeps looping and looping the strip for like 2 hours.. reving the fuck out of his little car, accelerating fast and breaking, and just being a complete tool if i was a police officer i would write that motherfucker a ticket so god damn fast.. drive the strip once, park it.. and tell ur friend to eze up on the gas.... it might be grandbend. but the law is the law.. he was doing somethng for the officer to be like.. "Fucking kid, this ticket will shut him up" the officer is going to get paid either if u fight it or don't fight it.. and even if he looses, he still will be writting tickets to the cars at grandbend like ur friends car that looks stock , aside from the apc stickers, with a big ass muffler, hitting it off the revlimiter , with his music up, thug face corked, and wasting more gas in 2 hours than i do in 2 weeks! pay the ticket, get a tan, and tell ur friend to park his car when he goes to the beach! |

harleys aren't loud from the factory... people just put S&S exhaust or hooker headers on them to see huge power gains and be heard by all.
harley owners just don't get them because they don't cause shit on the street and dont drive around like fucking idiots all day |

Well I am going to jump in here and side the original poster actually. I have a Toyota Celica show car. I was driving very slowly and cautiously to Waterloo one day back in March to drop off the vehicle. I was in the slow lane and there was no weaving, or revving or anything being done whatsoever. My exhaust is loud enough to hear but it's a nice deep tone and I was not on the throttle once the entire ride. Still though for some reason a cop in a SUV finds his way up beside me and listens and then proceeds to pull me over and issue me a ticket for improper muffler. I was the nicest citizen ever and apologized repeatedly and explained my entire situation in a very professional manner and I was still given this ticket. So just to give some info from another perspective - it's not always the kid who is driving like an idiot and running laps around town.

Especially in Grand Bend where the music is cranked, there's Harleys, there's big muscle cars and there's loud fart cannons. The cops can't pull everybody over on the strip so they just pick the biggest jackasses. At least that's what I've seen and what makes sense to me. ------------------ Kyle 1994 Honda Accord EX H22 - Summer 1991 Honda Civic Si - Winter |

I've seen guys in mucsle cars sit around all day waiting for a good oppertunity to leave, they wait till the cops arent around and take off then. They herass anyone who have loud cars at the beach. Setting examples are what cops do

I drive a muscle car. Nobody is immune. It's officers discretion. Take the ticket, fight the ticket, complain about the ticket, it's still a ticket. The HTA has no verified dB level for exhaust tone. Officers discretion. Improper muffler would fall under "Hollywood" categorization (meaning straight through design with no inner baffles) and that's why he got that one. If you can fit a coke can or a ground hog in the tail pipe, it's improper.
![]() Driving smart is a great way to prevent needless tickets. Not driving your car is the only way to prevent all tickets. Want to stop being hassled? Buy a station wagon or otherwise. I'm in the same boat as you are and everyone else as well. I think it comes down to who is the officer.......what kind of mood their in.......and what is going on in that area.......things like that.
I was going through a ride program inspection about a month ago on King street........and the officer after checking if I was drinking.....walked around the car to look over my modifications. Then she came back and asked me to push the accelerator so she can hear my aftermarker muffler. So I reved it as lightly as possible because I didn't want a ticket......I went till about 1500 - 2000 rpm. She just let me go with a warning for it being loud, and told me that I should look into getting it changed because it's a 110 dollar fine and that I might get one for it......"depending on the situation".
