I wouldnt worry about it too much, when I had my civic, my insurance company wanted to do a inspection and nothing changed on my insurance.

My car was lowered, rims, intake, exhaust, deck, tint my subs and amp in the back, interior was obviously re-done nothing to crazy but as I said my insurance didnt change.

Inspection was today, and was a piece of cake. I'm just paranoid I guess. As for finding another insurance company, after this policy is up... I'm definately finding a new company.

I pay way too much. I got sick of shopping around, and just wanted my car on the road, so I bit the bullet and went with the expensive insurance. I'm switching companies as soon as this policy is up. The sad thing is that my car is prolly one of the slowest on the road. But, i've got a ticket against me, and had to go with something economical.

I pay 215/month on a 2000 Eclipse.......and that's including my speeding tickets........

I am with RBC Insurance, and their policy is I can have as much stereo equipement in my car as long as it's less than 1500 value.

With them, they have their mods in 2 different categories.......mods for looks and style and mods to enhance performance.

The mods for looks and style, like lights, rims, decal.......it's all ok to them because it does not make your car go faster.

Mods for performance........engine mods, body kit (they say it makes it more aero dynamic)..........they forbid that stuff because it makes your car go faster. But thankfully they haven't asked me to go for this inspection thing because I have things in this category.

Anytime I am on the phone with them and they ask if my car is modified, I respond with......."I can barely afford the car, do you think I can afford to modify it" lol, I have been with them for 2 years

Yeah, I guess it takes time for rates to go down, but thats the shitstorm you get involved with when you first get licensed.. and me having a ticket certainly does not help. I was told it will go down when I get my G, and when I turn 19, so we'll see how much those factors affect it.

well what am I going to do? if I go with any other company my insurance will be much higher. The 215/month that I pay now has full coverage and that is including all the speeding tickets I have.

I am worried about switching because it's hard to find a good price

You have nothing to worry about as long as the sound system you currently have in your car is, as everyone has previously stated, less the $1500 dollars. You can always give them a call and ask the specifics of the policy are in any case.

When i got my car inspected about 6 months ago i have my deck, front and back speakers, and speaker amp all written down by the insurence guy, just provide receipts and most of the insurence companies wont even both raising the premiums, assuming its under their given policy. And, if it ever gets stolen the will cover it.

Even if you have everything and the sub or something easy to remove put you over, simple solution is to just take ti for the time being until your done you inspection.
