According to the law, any tint that is not factory IS AGAINST THE LAW! All this crap that they feed you at various tint shop is invalid. People say that (I believe) 36% is legal - wrong.

When PACER was down at Darknights in 2002, I asked the guys about the situation. Point blank they replied that all percentages are based upon the US Governing Laws - not Canadian Law. They even went on to say that it was such a Grey area at the time. All in all, they continued to say, "if I as a police officer was beside you at a light and happened to look over, and if I can't see you because of the tint on the windows, I'm busting your ass for it!" Furthermore, "Reasoning: Endangerment to myself, and other drivers..."

You're 50% correct. You can have the rear, and rear side windows COMPLETELY blacked out. But a police officer has to be able to see you in the dark with your window rolled up. Which means if you're smart, you won't tint your driver/passenger window at all. You can paint the back windows with black paint if you want though........

Subs are not illegal. The only thing you have watch when it comes to sound is the hole Domestic Disturbance law. I usually have my music pounding hard, if i see a cop i just hit the ATT button and silence it till their gone. But yes if you get cuaght and the cops a prick he can hit you with a Domestic Disturbance fine, i am not aware of the price of that but someone else may be. Does the Tint law apply at night? cause you can see in mine during the day but at night you can't.... So if it is i may rip off my front window tint.

It especially applies at night. Cops don't know what they're getting into when they approach a car, so the last thing they want is to walk up to a car with a tinted window they can't see into....the law is there to protect them.

for what its worth i have a few friends that are police officer's and the general rule of thumb is if u can read a license through the tint u are ok...

further if they feel threatened by not being able to see u clearly tehy will ticket you for it.

just something from a horses mouth

I was told that my 20% mirror tints are 100% legal. They are designed to be legal............though it IS difficult at times to see through them........the more sunlight, the harder to see through them.

I'm NOT taking them off for nobody, I like my privacy!!!

I'm going to get 5% tint for my all my rear windows, just to hide my gutted interior. I don't want people to see my battery back there, or to wonder why it's gutted in the first place....

The police have NOTHING to do with what's illegal that you do. There are other people responable for that. (government)

Oh wait...I've got an idea...how about not doing anything illegal? What a concept!

hott damn thats a good concept... doing illegal things are dumb like speeding, all your doing is getting to your destination like 5 mins fast and burning more gas i just dont see the point.... but i got harassed in my moms Jetta 1.8t lastnight about the tinting on that i got let go but the cop told me they are gunna really start crackin down on it

I agree with you on the speeding part. I use to speed everywhere. I got my first ticket for 110 in an 80 zone on a COUNTRY highway. Ya a place you never see people going under 110, Unfortunatly there was an undercover cop in a brown crown vic coming towards me and i didn't relize till the last minute. BANG ticket. Its so not worth it if you ask me. I have slowed down and no very very rarely speed. Between the price of gas and insurance with a ticket on my record and the ticket price its not worth the $$$ weather you got it or not.
