Post Insurance Ppl Grrr

Oke here is my thing. I had a accident September 2004. Fixed my car and gave it to my bro. So therefore he is the owner. With a bad record i am currently 2nd driver on my bro's car under his insurace. Since we had some modifications on the car, paint job, suspencion, sound and etc my bro wants to put this car in the garage untill the winter is over.

So he gave our insurace company a call and told them that he won't drive it including myself too. They checked the record...and were like...since i had a accident with that "same" care they wont be able to do that. "Till your bro is with you"

Since school started i ended up moving. So again he gave them a call and told insurance company that i am not with him anymore and wants to cancel me. Again they were on the pc..checking records bla bla bla....just to tell him
"Since your bro had accident his rate needs to continue somewhere" My bro said that it will continue when he gets his own car offcours, but now he doesnt care because he bearly see's me.

They said"Till you bro gets insurance, you wont be able to cancel him. Anything else i can help you out with? NO? have a nice day"

I am so pissed, i dont know what to do. Why should i pay $250 if i am not driving WTF? My insurance company is Baildirect....any sugestions????

seems like they are trying to scam you...if you arent driving, why would you need to be on the insurance? is the car in your name?

You don't have to stay insured if you aren't driving... I would ask to speak to someone in charge, etc... but I will tell you, your rates will go up a fair bit if you don't have some sort of continuous coverage!

something is missing here.. i think its in best intrest that u have insurance.. canceling insurance and getting it again at a later time is really expensive the first year around,

you and ur brother should just go to ur insurance company IN PERSON, so u are both pyhsically there, and tell them that u don't want to be on the policey anymore, if anything u might in a contract (ussaly 6 month terms) and they will not remove u until ur renwell.

^^^unfortunately, isnt doesnt work that way, if u are the owner, u are primary..

it also goes by drivers on the policy, ie

my house had 3 cars and 3 drivers, i had to be primary on one. thats why my rents got me on my own insurance.

Not true...you can just say that you don't live under that household and if you have updated your info on your driver's licance, then what u can do:

1st
-you dont need to be insured at all, on your parent's car, and you can drive it
(they can ask you to sign a contract that you are not going to drive any of your parent car, if they don't they you can drive it. If cop pulls you over then car is insured and your licance didn't expire then you are okay. If u crash car, and u din't have insurace, then who cares. Car was insured..under your parent's name.)

OR

2nd
-Also there is somethg that is called occasional driver. Meaning if you are not in house hold but you might drive car once a week maybe less. Therefore you can get this insurance which is extremly cheap...

Check it out...

^^^^^occasional driver isn't really cheap........................it was about 800 bux extra per year for me to be occasional on a civic sedan and a pontiac transport 1999 and 1998 respectively.

I didn't consider 800 extremely cheap. Soon as I got to be primary on my car its now 2800/year.

^^^ the occasional diver rule changes when there is as many drivers as cars.

and switching households is a pain in the ass..

the contract u sign that says u arent going to drive there car means that you CANNOT drive that car, if u are caught and they find out you were driving, your fucked. I signed one when I had my G2 saying I wouldn't drive my dads brand new truck. my insurance went down a bit cuz of it.

then your parents insurance skyrockets, hu-rah...my moms an auto insurance underwriter...

^^^^^^^^^you didn't understand me which is partly my fault.

At one point in time we only had the two cars and 3 drivers with my G. It was still liek 800 bux a year for me to be occasional.

At that point in time their weren't as many drivers as cars.

Insurance sux plain and simple! They are thieve's.

one of my friends had this same situation but he was able to sign papers saying he wouldn't drive their cars so that he could be taken off the insurance because it was costing way too much because of the increase from his accident
