Correct me if I am wrong, but if the cop detects your radar detector, but doesn't see it when he comes to your window...

then asks to search your car, isn't it true that you don't have to let him search if you don't want to?

Since the cop has suspicion of a radar warning device in your car, they have the right to search it for it.

they have the "reasonable grounds" necessary to search the car, as PT said. if not you get charged with obstruction of justice, just like if you were to put the detector on your person, you would be impeding the officer of completing his duty.

the real irony in all of this is that belltronics, a popular manufacturer of radar detectors, is located in mississauga!

^^ resurrected!

They would tow your car. Hopefully to your house right after they take off the plates until you uninstall it and hand it over.

No offense but you have to be pretty dumb for permanently mounting something that is illegal in Canada. That's just asking for your car to get taken away.

Cops are getting tougher and tougher, it's alot easier to just follow then law then to find ways around it. I've already learned my lessons on that.

No offence but you have to be pretty dumb to assume that cars never came with them from factory, older lincons, and caddilacs as well as alot of sports cars came with them from the factory in certain states, as well as alot of offshore made german cars, maybe people own imported cars............. wow who woulda thunk it ?

This thread wasn't started to argue about radar detectors. I'm really getting sick of people turning advice threads into full out discussions in threads they don't belong. Locked.
