parking ticket

The by-law's available online aren't up-to-date with what the increased fines are now.

Can I do anything with this if I fight it?

Ticket for $75!! By-law online states $40 cause they haven't updated it since LAST YEAR.

According to the Canadian government "Ignorance of the law is not an excuse". Which really sucks because how are you supposed to know everytime they change every law and by law out there without working for them or changing the laws yourself.

Quite simple. You're responsible for knowing any changes to any local or federal government policies. It's YOUR responsibility to know the law. Think about if they had to inform you of every single change? You'd just complain about stuff that you don't care to hear about. That's why they leave it open so you're always responsible.

I was trying to be responsible by checking the information they have have published online.

If they're not going to keep it current, they shouldn't have it up at all IMO

Everyone above said that he doesn't know the law. Nowhere here does it say he didn't know the law, it just says that the fines have increased.

You can try to fight it, but you'll need lots of luck as your court date will be for friday morning and all (or almost all) of the by-law enforcement officers will be there.

I have only seen ONE case argued successfully which was dismissed. It included witness statements and pictures of the site.

What's the fine for? $40 sounds like "parked on boulevard".
