Motorcycle Insurance - To be kept on Topic

IF you can't keep this on topic, please refrain from posting. Thank you

I need to know what insurnce companies you guys/girls are with for your bikes.

Company/ Broker:

Pros:

Cons:

Experience:

Bike:

Price:

now I know it will be different for everybody, but it'd be nice to see how the price is effected.

I called State Farm, they gave me a quote for $250/mo until I told them i dont have a clean record, then they told me I couldn't even be insured by them. Jerks.

I called Tribute Insurance Brokers, they asked if they could call back in 10 minutes. It's now 8.5 hours later and all I've received is a text message from someone else.

So lets see what companies I should get incontact with, which I should avoid.

Mods, please keep this on topic?

Call pioneer insurance (in the frederick mall)

Had good service there and they even paid for my physio after I destroyed the bike.

There was a guy there named scott, into some kind of brazilian boxing or something with banged up knuckles. Good guy, good company.

Im with OTIP which is located up in waterloo behind the Mazda dealer on Northfield. They are still pretty high though - apparently all motorcycle insurance premiums went up as of Nov/06

They want almost 6G/yr for full coverage on my GSXR750 and I have no accidents or tickets and Im almost 30

I might not be putting my bike on the road this yr

Another thing to look at, if you own your bike outright, you can get away with liabillity only which would be roughly 1-2 grand a yr however if you owe anything on it you have to have full coverage

I've found I bike i'm interested in, and I got a quote for $2100 for the first year, then the following year the rate apparently drops dramatically.

^^ What do you want to get?

And apparently after you're 35 there's a discount if you buy a cruizer over 900cc.

I personally use an insurance broker. I can get you the number if you want... but to help better understand, what are the tickets that you have??? I had issues getting insurance because I had 3 tickets for 15 over which classified me as "high risk". When I had my car with State Farm and had a clean record, they were only asking me like $125 a month for a 700cc Ninja and I was 18 at the time.

check out Primmum insurance (google search it for their site). I just bought a 750 cc atv and most places either said no or some outragous price. I'm paying $470 for full coverage

Go to Pioneer Insurance(like above in frederick mall) talk to Gord i pay $1750 for the year on a 2005 R6 the only thing is you have to pay in full they break it down in three payments but that covers you for the year.

i have a bad driving record aswell and was given the same run around from State farm when i went to Pioneer he looked up about six different companies and gave me the price for the cheapest

I have my 04 CBR600RR with state farm. But like turboABA says you need to have a car insured with them to have bike insurance.. Im paying 129.00 a month for the bike.. But I also have the motorcycle training course which helps ALOT..... Im 24 with one minor ticket.

And yes what kind of bike are we talking about here? and do you have the training course? what licence do you have? M1,M2 or M? I found the when I got my M2 and the course my insurance went from like 8k a year to around the 1500 mark on my old 02 F4i.

I have an 02 SV650, with my GM1, and no course yet. Next year will be my GM2 with course and one year riding experience, so my broker told me i'd drop $1000 assuming i have no convictions

Newsflash. Your M1 expires in like 3 months or something. So unless you get your M2, I don't see you being insured.

HAHAH if you havent reserved a spot to do your M2 then good lkc maybe in the summer it fills fast.
But from my record and experience with insurance companies on bikes, Pioneer was good but now they changed a whole bunch of things like expanded their office and now they are fucking up a whole bunch of things. Rates have went through the roof and they have these stupid options on how to pay for shit. Like i just got my M and they raised it 500$ and i stayed out of trouble all year PLUS they siad if i wanted that rate i had to pay within 5 days or it would go up 1200$, I was super pissed.
SO if you have a sport bike go to Erb and Erb 519 579 4270 and ask for Scott Tilffer, he does a lot of searching to get good rates and hes a cool guy. I have a sport bike rates are up there but reasonable but if you get a SV650 or katana youll be laughing .
