Not that I've ever had any serious issues getting an e-test but it sucks to own a 1988 car!!

I didn't swear at you.. don't be rude and tell me to ride the fucking bus

I did say that I was simply irrate... I don't argue that point, I was bitchy... I bitched.

I take care of my cars.

I am making my car run more economical, and I'm in the works of it. (high flo cats don't make a car less efficient) I'm working on it see: V6Z24.com :: View topic - Codes 24 VSS & 45 Rich Exhaust

and my very very first sentence was that, I agree emmisions testing is good for the environment.

I ask for your appology for your rudeness and lack of understanding. It is not easy to take care of all money issues that are at hand. If you own a home on one income... you'ld understand.

Apology? you should really start riding the fucking bus.

You ask me to understand because you own a home, and one income.. well maybe get a car that doesn require so much to maintain? Its like you can't get past the ride the bus comment... because you obviously did not read the rest of my post.

welcome to the thread.
u can take your car anywhere, fail, go home fix it and re-run it.
the point is that your repair costs are NOT taking into consideration for the $450 limit before the automatic pass comes into effect. If you are saying that econo-lube WILL take it into consideration they won't keep their licence long for etests if they find out.

im a bit slow on this one

all i know is if ur car fails, u can take it home and do the repairs you need to get it to pass,
re run hte car, and if it passes, thats great news.

even if you spent more than 450 dollars to get it fixed, its still going to be a non conditoinal pass, which is better than a conditional pass.

the 450 limit grants you the conditoinal pass if you can't pass your test after 450 dollars worth of repairs. this does not necessarily mean that your car can now pass the emissions test, its merely a conditional pass. a conditional pass is only good for 1year i think? and you can't have it done again after that. and is not valid for vehicle transfers.

after a conditional pass; when you have to run it again the next year, you have to pay however much it costs to get it to actually pass the test.

you need to spend the $450 at a emissions testing shop for it to count towards the conditional pass limit. If you spend $450 and do the work yourself, according to the email response from the etest people, it does NOT count towards the conditional pass.

clear as mud.

MMMMMMMMMMM.... its starting to feel a lot like the old VM around here.

Calm down gents, his money issues are no ones business but his own.

The point here was that he isn't getting the same credit for his repairs if he does them himself. Thats it, thats all. Yes it sucks, life is full of shitty times.

Lets move on.

yah, what you're saying is 100% true. what im saying is doing it like that is not the best way. the best way is to do the repair yourself and get it to actually pass, without having to do conditional.

the risk is you risk spending over $450.00 but at least you're going to get a real pass if you fixed it right and re-run the car. most of the time you will be under $450.00 or right on the mark and its a real pass man. and its perfectly legal to do it like that, there is nothing in the rule book saying you can't do it like this.

its unwise to get a conditional unless you're planning to scrap the car within a year or sell it as-is for really cheap.

economy lube is a test only facilty, they aren't required to fix any of the vehicles nor diagnose them. they are required only to run hte tests.
