Cops Chase 06 Civic Si - Cant Catch Him

This is training for the Milwakee police department and for some reason.... they decided to chase a 06 Si around the track. This might be the reason they want our cars off the road. Crown Vics seems to suck in comparision. The best quote is "I have to slow down and wait for them to catch up" LOL.

wow, I'd love to see a driver like that in my car. Fucking drove the shit right out of her, very nice. That would be the bomb, if they just got people at the track to help train new officers. Like any random track day "hey wanna run from the cops on a race track?"...like anyone would actually say no. Oh man, so jelous of that guy.

Maybe they should be using real life situations such as well, normal people driving these cars to see what it's really like! I think it's great to train them with a pro, but that's not really a fair comparisson.

no suprise

this car is stupid fast in the corners
Full Test: 2006 Honda Civic Si

Quote:
Our Civic Si went to the test track the same day as a Corvette Z06, a Viper and a Ford GT, yet, it stayed with these high rollers in the slalom, running through the 600-foot cone course at almost 68 mph. That's faster than the Viper and only a hair behind the Corvette's performance.

In our first drive, we told you how the 2006 Honda Civic Si drives on the track. "Grip is high, body roll is very well controlled, as is brake dive, and the feel and ratio of the electric power steering are right on," we wrote. All this is true on the street as well.

This car engages its driver the same way a rear-drive BMW does. Although front-wheel drive, the Si responds immediately to every input and the standard limited-slip differential lets you get back on the gas sooner without upsetting your line. Pay extra for the optional 215/45R17 Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 summer tires. They're sticky enough to justify the added expense.

Braking hardware consists of ventilated 11.8-inch discs in front and 10.8-inch solid discs in back. Even when hot, the brakes feel strong with a natural pedal feel. Our tester's best stopping distance from 60 mph was a very good 122.7 feet.

Just and FYI....The purpose of those driving exercises is to train the new officers on how to follow, not on how to catch a fleeing car. They are also trained not to follow cars at a close distance, because it reduces reaction time. Its not a NASCAR race, where everyone drives in a close pack trying to draft the car in the front for that sling shot pass on a predictable oval track.
What better lines to follow than those of one of the best and fastest drivers in the world!

Food for thought... Dont you think it would have been a bigger news story if the inexperienced police trainnee driving the much heavier and less agile automatic transmission crown vic actually caught up to and overtook (not the purpose of the exercise) the light weight, nimble civic being drving by one of the worlds best drivers with a rolling head start? If that was me I would be looking for an Indy sponsor.

Following someone 3 seconds later is not that hard - after all it IS a racetrack, not like he'll suddenly hang a right into another street. I think they were trying hard to get closer than they were.

And for part two - they should be able to get closer than they were. They have police INTERCEPTORS which have a little more oomph as well as better brakes than the standard crown vic. But you already knew that.

THey should hold a lottery for the 'escapee' position. Stay away from the cops for 5 minutes and win a prize

definatly some honourable mentions in mazda...SRT4 Mazdaspeed relations were rough when Chrysler introduced the SRT4, what a waste of several thousand posts bashing each other when we all could have just outrun the cops

Ahhhhhh. Ignorance is bliss. CVPI vs. '06 Honda Civic SI... I'll take the Civic any day over the CVPI for handling, acceleration and even braking. Top end is different story.

Sorry, I'll try harder. Its just that the truth is the truth and a CVPI is a boat with a big engine.
