insurance...kinda funny
I changed insurnace companies about 3 months ago because this company offered cheaper rates. I was told after signing my agreement and paying my money that I would have to go and get an inspection. I went and the inspection place did their thing, no problem. well today, over a month after I had this inspection done i received an email from my broker saying the insurance company had contacted him and were considering cacelling my insurance because of this intake. I wrote back saying I can take it off just to avoid any headaches and possible cancellation. i receive another email telling me to hold on because the underwriter doesnt actually know what an intake is or what it does and he will get back to me once they get it figured out.
they seem very organised and up to date on all of thier facts. I am considering getting a car with more mods in the near future and i know they wont really fly with this company, anyone have well established companies that will insure fairly modified vehicles? thanks chris ------------------ '96 4 Door Acura Integra RS |

I'm having a hard time finding a company for what I want to do with my car. I'm working with my broker right now to try and find a decent company that won't charge me out the bum! I will keep you updated as all of my insurance needs to be changed next month anyways! |

belair direct FTW! they insure my Z24 with suspension done, exhaust, bodykit, rims, stereo, cusotm hood etc and they had no issues with any of it....they questioned the exhasut as it could be looked at as a performance setup but i jsut told them my stock one rusted away and put one on thats abit louder lol flowmaster 40series with hiflowc at and 2.5" catback lol
ive had several "inspections" done aswell and they never once opened teh hood on any of my cars, it was jsut a visual inspection to see if theres any damage to the car(cracekd windsheild, scratches etc) and if theres audio or any mods they will take detailed pics of everthing...with the Z24 i was in and out within 10 minutes and other stock cars like 5 mins..... i broguth my last beater in (4dr cavy) and the inspection place called my insureance and told them it had Z28 ground effects and rims and the mods cost over $1500 lol i laughed when hte insurance company called me and was like why didnt u tell us about these mods, but everthing was fine ------------------ FDP 62MM TB, FFP Performance Chip, FFP Underdrive Pully, WAI, Hi Flow Cat, 2.5\" Catback, Functional Ram Air Hood, Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch |

OK, so after looking into everything with my broker, I found nothing. I then went back to State Farm who can properly insure a modded car. They go through the same company that they use for high risk drivers. What you need is a full appraisal of the vehicle with all the mods, what it's worth, etc... and they then base your insurance on that. It might not be the cheapest way, but it is a great way to have your vehicle fully and legally covered!

I've only had one inspection done and they didn't look under the hood.
When I switched to Bel Air Direct they said they would do one on my Tercel and never did. Then I got my first Jetta and they didn't even say anything about an inspection. Same thing on my second Jetta.... Weird. ------------------ ITCT || MP3Car Forums || Reliable Investments || PN User Feedback || Heatware || My MSN Status: ![]() TURBO DIESEL |

i did the online quote at belairdirect .com because some people from my work praised them as well, it is like 100 dollars cheaper a month (so like 126/month) for my teg. Has anyone had any claims with belair and if so were they fast and hassle free?

Belair checks under hoods, at least thats what I experienced when I first went there. I did the same thing as 96escortlx and just took it up the arse but I get fully legal coverage. It actually wasnt that bad if you take off fire and theft as it matched my previous belair quote. I guess this would be the way to go if you have a good security setup and your car is a sleeper. Mine isnt so I took it. Besides, its not that bad when your car is stored in the winter then you pay next to nil for the beater insurance over the snowy days.
