improper muffler ticket

I got another one on university a couple nights ago. I paid the first one but i was told not to pay it and fight it cause apparently everyone always wins but i just wanna know how everyone goes about this. The guy didn't even look at my exhaust this time so i don't know how he can justify it being "improper" if there is a different code for exessive noise.

go ahead and fight the ticket. Piss the cops off, so the rest of us get tickets...

i've got a 3" exhaust (after turbo) and it's loud as hell and i pass by cops EVERYDAY and they haven't even looked at me. Either your ricer muffler is stupid loud, or your driving like a complete jackass. Either way, you deserve the ticket. ESPECIALLY since it's your second!?!

Maybe he just happend to be at the wrong place/wrong time. I agree, if you dont own a V8+ or making excesss of 300hp and your making excessive noise in a 4cyl....somethings wrong, very wrong.

Was it an "improper muffler" ticket or "Unnecessary noise" ticket?

^thats the key question right there...

I'll put money on the unnecessary noise, for driving like an ass clown.. haha.

won't be afraid to admit I pulled off some stupid shit in my civic before (it was loud as hell to) and I got the noise ticket, not the muffler one.

man i saw some older blue civic the other day with the loudest exhaust i've ever heard in my life.. wow.. like honestly, it makes no sense. You drive a civic, you're not getting massive increase in HP.. and besides even if you do get a small gain @ a certain RPM, who cares, you drive a civic. Spend your money on something beneficial, like a retrofit. Performance exhaust on an S2000 is a different story, where you can actually beat something other than Cavaliers.

I6 motor, '76 Datsun, no res, no cat, 6-1 header, high flow muffler thats loud. i drive normal and this car is loud anywhere under 3000rpm which is called intown driving.
most of these tickets are not becuase of the muffler but the driver and their habits

I cannot wait to be worrying about how loud my exhaust. I mean that literally and sarcastically at the same time. I can't wait to have 3inches turbo back and a new exhaust mamifold hi-flo cat'd. I'm gonna see how loud it is without a silencer and if I cannot control it by driving like a normal person I will just drop the silencer in. if it's still too loud I dunno, I can't drive . I think it'll be fine but I know I'm gonna add a bit more care still even to my street driving. No speeding, no hard accelerating, no tire chirping on hills(stunt driving right? well this is fun with my clutch.lol. skillful master I have become)
