Insurance companies/Salvage cars/Wrecking yards/Ugh

So I had it all set up to buy this car that is written off and is currently sitting at a body shop waiting to be delt with. The lady that owns it decided she didn't want to deal with buying it back and selling it to me because of some personal problems so she gave me the number for her insurance agent person and I just called and left a message asking about it.

Wrecking yards are the worst and i don't like buying things from them so i want to buy it straight from the insurance company... hopefully the lesser of two evils.

Does anyone know anything about this process? Can you even buy cars from insurance companies or will they tell me to go away? I'll even pay a fair bit more than the wreckers will, the car is worth it, I don't think it should have even been written off in the first place.

Probably a long shot but I thought I'd ask. Insurance doesn't always tell the truth so they might say it's not doable and someone on here might know that it actually is possible. I've had something sort of similar happen to me with insurance, almost cost me $700.

As far as I know the owner has to request the car to be bought back, and depending on type of car, damage, mileage if the value of the car is high enough they wont sell it back cause they can get more money @ a salvage auction. Best of luck

we buy cars directly off of the insurance company BUT my dad owns a body shop i have no idea if you could go in and buy the car i am guessing NOT because thats car will go to the auction where you need a Dealers license to get it.

Plus is will be Branded so you will need to take it to a shop and get a chassis saftey done to get it back to Branded- REBUILT.

yeah insurance isn't going to sell it to me, talked to the wreckers and they said they will know if they'll sell it after they check out the car, they haven't picked it up yet.\

it's not looking too promising.
