Lowering&Insurance

I talked to my insurance agent at Johnson and she said that they will not insure me if I lower the car or do mods to the engine.

What should I do? What insurance companies don't care if you lower your car? What's everyone's experience with this sort of thing?

All insurance companies that are affiliated with "Capital One" will have the same mandate regarding lowering.

See if you can find an independently owned company

i'm with Pilot and i have never seen anything from them one way or the other.

State Farm is DEFINATELY a company to stay away from if you have ANY mods.

They probably wont. If you wrap a "souped up car" around a pole then i can see them making a fuss..

but car thats just lowered? I doubt they'd even say anything in a normal fender bender situation. So yeah, just don't drive like an idiot and you should be ok. too much ohnesty is going to cost you big time when it comes to insurance. fudge it whenever you have a chance!

i'm with johnson inc too, the lady i deal with has never given me any problems with me doing anything to the car. The only thing she asked about was me blowing the motor, and how i blew it.

She didn't care about the volks or the front end, but i know that with most companies as soon as you mension coils they cancel you. So just don't

I wouldn't take chances like that... If they've told you no mods or you're dropped, then they can cancel your insurance anytime they find out you have mods done. Usually that'll happen after you get in an accident, and they don't feel like paying for it.

Leaves you SCREWED since the car isn't covered, and you're open for driving without insurance charges, PLUS whatever the other person involved feels like sueing you for.

If you're gonna lie to insurance companies, you might as well not even have insurance.

Lots of insurance companies are fine with modifications. But if yours says no mods and you lie, then you better carry around a big jar of KY.

Will on my policy it does not say i can't mod it, so how will i know they don't allow mods. I found out by calling them myself. Since they don't make this information public for their customers how am i supposed to know.

That is the line i'm gona use if i get in a fender bender or something. Knock on wood it does not happen.

She said there's nothing wrong with bodykits a stuff, just lowering it and performance mods. I think I'll just put some cinder blocks in the trunk for now.

They probably have it on record that they told you.

Even if not, they'll say its your responsibility to clear it with them before doing ANY mods. Mine wanted to know about everything, even what kind of CD deck I had.
