Tint
I'm getting tint done on my car Friday. Trying to figure out the best balance between darkness and not getting my ass harrassed by the law.
I'm in London, where everyone says 20% in the fronts is fine, legally. But I'm moving to Waterloo for school, and have no idea how bad the situation is with your blitzes and such. Will 20% in the front get me a ticket? What's safe and decent? I have nothing else really done to the car, and usually drive with the windows down in the summer and stuff, if that makes any difference. Thanks. |

As per the discussion in EXTERIOR thread...
Their is no 'legal limit' for tint in ontario. To be picky and technical, unless you have a written doctor's note, ANY tint on the front windshield or front door windows is illegal. Any darkness of tint can be used on the rear doors and windshield. According to my Peel Police buddy, a general rule of thumb that cops use is that they must be able to identify the sex of the driver when approaching the vehicle. This is for the cops own safety so that he knows that the driver is not holding a gun, etc, up to the window waiting for him... This makes it tricky because at night, you obviously cant see through the tint as well. Also, dark tint looks lighter on a car with a sunroof than one without. Bottom line, the darkness of tint is up to you. Just be prepared to have it yanked off or a hole cut in it if an officer is having a bad day and deems it to dark. Oh, and mirror tint is 100% illegal on the front door windows. ------------------ Kris | Sales & Leasing Consultant | Gus Revenberg Pontiac-Buick-GMC-HUMMER | Windsor, ON | 519-979-2800 x126 1995 Gmc Jimmy - Bagg'd and Envoy clip'd |

I belive what Kris just said above is correct.
20% is a little on the darkside and you might get hassled, altough in the blitses Tint is the least of your worries. 35% would definetly be safe. ------------------ Nick | 2001 Golf 1.8T | www.mygolfiv.com | www.hpaddicts.com | Need Cheap Hosting ?? www.WEJhosting.com $50/Year |

I've got 35% on fronts and 20% on the back and rear... perfect for still being able to see and legal!
