Sound in Motion

I know a bunch of you came out last year to Natural Sound's show Sound in Motion.
645 Victoria St N.

Looks like the date is going to be June 22nd. (that's a Friday)

Hope to see you all out there either showcasing your cars or as spectators!
It'll be bigger and better this year!!

Willl there be FAIR judging this time? Or will people win just by knowing judges like last year?

The judging will be done differently this year.

However, with regards to the comment above - there were no "judges" last year, spectators did the voting - so I don't know how you can say that people won by "knowing judges". We did the best we could last year and thought it would have been nice to have spectators choose the winners - but that clearly didn't work.

Regardless - it's going to be done differently and if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them (even if its privately) because the "judging" issue is one that I'm working on finalizing in the next couple weeks.

Sounds fair...

you probably have different clubs invited... well... a representative from each is good, and yourself.. or your rep or two.

Judge set ups, SPL, sound quality etc.

Its all about bringing customers in of course.... so, maybe offer people that enter the comp. something a little extra... to encourage participation.

I'm sorry to break this to you, but I (we) was there, and I can probably point at least 50ppl to this thread who will vouch that they all stuffed ALL their tickets in our one friend's container. And most people went up and got a few sets of tickets. The box was full to the rim!

We also walked around and looked at everyone else's boxes, and guess what, they weren't as full.

You can quote me on this:

"There's absolutely NO FUCKIN WAY that you guys counted the actual tickets for the class our friend was in."

And as a bottom line, the winner of that class (who I also knew) even mentioned that they were friends with the people runing the show!

Deny it all you want, but this is the truth.

I really don't appreciate making accusations of any sort that you clearly are misinformed of. I myself was incharge of the re-counting of all the ballots and can assure you that there were 7 boxes that were all literally within tickets of each other. We gave out prizes to those who had the 5 highest amount of tickets.

As for knowing someone who won - I ran the show and work at the store - at one point or another met or talked to everyone who was in the show (of course I know others better then some - but actually don't know any of the winners personally - so again - the accusations I don't appreciate.)

We tried to run a fun event and really enjoyed doing it and had some great feedback and had some great cars out that day. I do think it's sad that you have no problems critizing the judging saying it wasn't fair - but the reason it wasn't fair is because of you. you said yourself that you had stuffed a box. So I will thank you for showing me the weakness of putting trust in you to be honest. I learned my lesson.

I really do want it to be a fun night - and had a great time last year - and count on people like you to come for this type of event - I just did't want my name discredited.

As I said previously - the judging will be done differently this year. So if you have any suggestions as to how I can judge a competition like this more fairly - I'd love the input.

Yes. The box idea was kinda hard to do because there wasn't a way to regulate the amount of tickets any one person got due to it was an open show/event. The ticket idea works well with pay to get in events.

I found the show to be very good and lots of fun specially dragging my gf to the lil table with prizes as fast as I could to show she had a tattoo to win a prize...yeah she had a flippy skirt on and heels was great hahahaa.

I liked how there was also blowout priced audio equipment..obviously... definitly good time for a sale though.

We've seen how full the ballot boxes were for the different cars. It seemed obvious which cars would have a shot at winning. Surprisingly the winning car wasn't even in the top 3 in ballots collected for its category. And we took a stroll around just before the ballot boxes were collected. Quite a few people can vouch for this. Now I'm not blaming you personally but something very fishy took place, in fact it left a sour taste in my mouth and I wasn't even competing. I'm sure many people feel the same way. Unless there are drastic changes to the way it is run I would advise people against attending it as last years turned out to be a major waste of time for the people competing as it wasn't a fair competition.

I feel like we're going in circles....

We've all established the judging wasn't well done last year.
So...again...if anyone has any suggestions to make it better- please help me out. Otherwise - trashing the judging over and over doesn't help anything.

Easiest way to make judging far is standardized score sheets. That way you either have it or you don't to get the points. Things will still be a bit subjective as some like clean hidden installs where as some like highlighted flashy installs. Take two judges for each car and average the scores. Although I've never certified as a judge I have won a few Iasca and Usaci sound quality events over the years and their score sheets are very detailed. I might even come up for this so if you are looking for impartial judges since I don't know anyone there I'd be interested and will show my car only obviously.

We went around few times just before the boxes were collected and our friends box was most full, yet in the end results were different. Also dont try telling us that we are weak for stuffing boxes, it was going on for evryone there expecialy the winner. I know some of the winners friends and they all stated to me that they were stuffing the boxes and that there was a "connection" between natural sound and the winner, and that proved right cause of the outcome.

Well on a positive note I'd like to say that I competed in this show and actually won I believe it was either 3rd or 5th place - and have never been to this store in my life nor did I know a single person who even works there. With that said I personally feel that things were done fairly seeing as I actually won on a spectator basis (and again barely knowing any people who even came to the show).

Besides taking home a win, I also had a great time!

Oh I forgot to add in the last post that the only thing I was disappointed in was there were no trophies. I personally love getting them at the shows as a piece of memorabilia to look back at, and also makes for a nice display item at future shows.

Prizes were nice though!

if your car isnt good enough to win, dont whine about it after... the whole idea of a event like this is to have fun... you guys crack me up whinning because you didnt win.
Why does everyone have to be so competitive in the show scene, isnt it about having a good time, and showing off, not winning a trophy or shit... man, if I was the organizer of this show, i wouldnt be throwing a 2nd one with all the whinnin and hitching/maoning going on here.

Read before you post, because its clearly stated that it was our friends car we were talking about. I could care less if my car was in it and i didnt win, our whole point is that it was unfair and riged.
