Judging for SIM show.

I had an idea for judging and I'm curious as to what you guys think....
I was thinking of having the people who are entered in the show have to privately choose who they think the top 5 are - and the winners are obviously those who have the most votes.

Any thoughts? Cause even if people in the show are there with 2-3 friends - the most votes they can get is an extra 2-3 (if friends simply vote for friends)

i've been in shows that judge like this and i have very mixed feelings about that style of judging. sometimes it works well but most times not. you would be better off to have 3 official judges with defined criteria for judging...and also perhaps a bonus points set up of say 10 points to be awarded by the judges for their opinions. meaning, that if a judge likes how a certain car is put togther, maybe not a lot of stuff done to it but it all done really well where it all flows well and compliments everything that is done, then they can award bonus points to those cars on top of the standard criteria.

so then how does a stock looking car do well at the show, say someone had a classic car there (say a '76 Datsun) that was mint but no real 'mods' to it b/c it was restored to factory :P

just bustin' your balls
