Wow... I don't think I'm ready for that track in terms of me as a driver, but I will come watch for sure, if that's allowed.
Looks like a really good track and I'm interested to see some of the Nissans showing up. ------------------ 2001' Nissan Sentra sr20det GTiR SAISAN TUNED... |

Ya I just found that. It sounds like fun, but my concern is the distribution of track time.
Basically whatever group a person belongs to, they will have a 30min window to run the track, then be down for an hour waiting for their next session. I can't seem to find out what the distance is of DDT, so I can't say for sure, but at Dunnville (2.2km) I'd run 8-12 laps and want a breather of 20-30 minutes, then jump back on. Or run 4 laps, and get off to check something out, get back on. It just seems like the time is very constrained with your schedule, and a majority of people will be sitting around instead of driving their cars. Also, I won't say 'wasted' but you have 2 hours in the morning scheduled for learning the track. It really shouldn't be a problem to pick up the track design within 4 laps, can this part of your schedule be compressed? Are you open to different scheduling ideas? -Steve |

In the morning the advanced and experienced groups will be out on the track first thing - ownership is on them and they'll be out learning the track and lapping. For newbies who've never lapped before, they're going to go slow and easy. We don't want someone getting over their head before they've even started. This is valuable time. We've tried to post as much info as we can, Steve, so that the lapper can decide if this is a suitable event. Thanks for the questions. |

There's a slight chance that I'll have some designated track wheels and tires come this spring. Looks like they'll be using the same setup we had back in September. I loved "The Swoop" as I could enter it at a high rpm and exit it with a lot of speed down the hill. Where was it exactly where u went off at??? ![]() ------------------ Mike R. 2002 Honda S2000 2004 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer Edition |

I really do applaud you for going to the trouble of organizing this lapping event of yours. I think its great.
BUT You're schedule gives any one person 2 hours and 35 minutes of track time, and yet takes up 8.5 hours of a day. Plus anyone who isn't a resident of bowmanville IE: those people in Kitchener will be driving 2 hours there and 2 hours back. So 2.6 hours of track time in a 12.5 hour day. Let me address your concerns with an 'open track' Quote:
Quote:
Take a guy like Kace above, he owns an S2000, a production car for the track (hoping he has a roll bar for this event as per track rules). He'll be able to safely stay out there for quite a while. He'll need few runs with lots of laps. Take me, I drive an Integra, its not a production track inspired car. I've done its suspension, its fun to drive, but I'd want to keep it out of the upper revs for long durations. Take your average non-experienced driver, with his civic slammed on skunk2's with oem shocks. He might THINK he can stay out forever, but his lack of experience, and his first time adrenaline rush will take a toll on him. He won't be out as long. He'll need lots of runs with few laps I think if you're capable of planning this out the way you have so far, you're capable of going the extra distance. If you've got 3 groups of drivers, and 8 hours of track time, you can break it down into three time periods of 2 hours 40 minutes, have your 10 cars on/off as they'd like, and keep the long hours of doing nothing at a minimum. Its your track day, you can do what you want of course. But when people can run 4 hours of dunnville for $65, and get it done in 4 hours... |

Much agreed. I've been out to Dunville twice with the SON group, and that's how it's run. And honestly, with 10 cars on the track at a time, it's not difficult to keep track of who's been on for a while.
So yeah, keep a guy at the entrance from the pit, to regulate traffic on the track. If a lineup builds at the entrance, there would be 2 options: 1)You know if you've been on for a while, and can see that people are waiting...so you get off for a while ( unless you're an asshole ) 2) with 10 people on, an observer can see who's been on for a while, and flag them to pull off on their next lap. It's not hard. It only takes one guy to keep it flowing! |

FYI, I've done the drive in less then an hour and a half and that's doing no more then 120 km/h on the 401. But I know that's beside the fact.

I'll have to take a look at the brain bucket as well as free $$$ situation. I would love to come out and give it a try (complete noob to lapping days).
I read over the website and everything is how I expected, but it says spare brake pads recommended. Do you really eat through a set of pads in a lapping session or are they just in case you're on the green side and brake too hard and late and set them on fire. ------------------ This is where you type a bunch of shit about how awesome your car is. I beat the hell out of it and it begs for more, just like your girlfriend. Go ahead, cut me off. I dare ya. |

It depends on your car and your brakes. I still have my stock brakes and they were fine on the DDT track last time. However, it may be possible that Honda put decent quality brakes on my car. Although, for other types of cars, the OEM brakes may not be of higher quality, therefore, u may wish to change them after u get home from the track. ------------------ Mike R. 2002 Honda S2000 2004 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer Edition |

I know my stock brakes sucked bad for any sort of performance oriented driving. Wouldn't dare think of lapping for any considerable time with them. I've currently got a very meaty set of Hawk HPS pads so I'd imagine they'd be fine, but it doesn't hurt to ask when it comes to brakes given how important they are. Just need to stock up on brake fluid.
Thanks Mike ------------------ This is where you type a bunch of shit about how awesome your car is.
