Hit the track today with the Ecotec
I i Wandered out to Sparta in the Rain this morning to find the Ontarion Pontiac Club for a track day. Raining when i got to sparta at 12.... so we left to get some food. after food it was drying up so we returned to sparta to find out they had already cancelled. BUT Paul Mathers asked us if we wanted to run. so he opened the track for us from 3-5 with NO prep
i started out at 15.9@86 mph spinning ALL of first 3/4 or second and a part of 3rd (i ran my Michelin Pilots today) this was with a 2.55 60' last 3 runs of the day were 15.54@91 mph, 15.55@92 mph and 15.54@92 mph got the 60's for those runs down to a 2.25 but still spinning most of first. i was happy. Cannot wait to get to a prepped track with the New Drag Radails on (205/45/16 Nitto 555R Drag Extreme) Also i had not had a 5 speed on the track since Oct of 2006 ------------------ 1996 Viper Red Cavalier Z24 15.116@90.95 What do i know I'm just another J-Body Owner |

the 2.4 is 150hp 155ftlbs
the 2.2 ecotec is 140hp 155ftlbs the real difference is teh 2.4 is a cast iron engine where the ecotec is 100% aluminum even the block just has sleeves. so its over 200lbs lighter than the 2.4 ------------------ 1996 Viper Red Cavalier Z24 15.116@90.95 What do i know I'm just another J-Body Owner |

They've really increased the power output of the 2.2 from the late 90's. It's putting out pretty descent power!
The later 2.2's apparently love power adders as well... The 2.4..well...it's still just a rebadged "Quad 4" ------------------ Rob 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V w/SP 1983 Datsun 280ZX Turbo...alive again and running 20PSI 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix LE - Missing...lol! |

the 2.2 Ecotec is a DOHC motor
Unlike the normal OHV 2.2/2200 as for Power adders GM has a S/C for the ecotec my buddy has it in his sunfire hes now running 13.8. or you can take the entire Turbo Setup off a Saab 9-3 and it bolts right up ![]() the ecotec can handle around 10-12psi on the stock internals ------------------ 1996 Viper Red Cavalier Z24 15.116@90.95 What do i know I'm just another J-Body Owner |
