SURE YOU CAN GO IN A STRAIGHTLINE...

I think a few of us (10+) should get together and rent a circuit track for an hour. I would seriously consider entering my neon in some AUTOXING as well. I think it would be more fun then the 1/4 mile. All the skill is involved. 1?4 miles gets boring after a while!

Just an idea, I know me and a few friends from cambridge want to do it, just looking for more people!

If you plan to rent a full track(mosport, shannonville, or cayuga) plan to have atleast 25 cars to make it worth it. I think its about $3000 to rent the full track at mosport, but I could be wrong.

Cayuga has lapping days all the time, you just show up and pay(I believe its $250), then drive all day.

Autox is a MUCH cheaper alternative. Another choice is the driver development track at mosport, which I believe is substantially cheaper than the full track..

Just a heads up, any tracks day I've been to don't allow passing, except if you're signalled to by the slower car, so you can't really go for a balls out race with your friend...

Just as a FYI:

At bike track days there are usually three groups of racers: street, intermediate, and hot shoe (increasing in order of skill).

Street = no passing unless in the straights or coming OUT of a corner
Intermediate = passing in corners allowed on the inside only, and only when safe
Hot shoe = anything goes, but be prepared for an arse whooping if you fuck someone's bike up

Gtoups/rules vary, but that's generally how it goes.

We yusually go to Cayuga/TMP and Shannonnville. Calaboogie (Ottawa) is building a track and Grand Bend may.

It really depends on who organized the day, and the track rules...

The only times I've been have been organized by a dealership(Owasco Audi/VW), and it was at Mosport..

Rules were:
obey all flags,
no passing unless signalled by,
leave the track you're off for a time out,
leave again and your day is done,
anyone hits a wall and the day is done for everyone.

Those who say 1/4 mile gets boring.. have you ever brought your car to a real 1/4 mile track ? I want to bring it to shannonville or callabogie this spring, but 1/4 is far from boring.

Yeah we had 3, 1/4" mile track days this year, i personally only went to 2 of them. Is really fun to race your friends and is far from boring.
NeonDOHC was there with me and we raced head to head. !!!

I'm looking forward to going again next year.

I ran my 3rd gen Integra GS-R at the track last spring but it was at Luskville (aka Worst track on earth). Still pulled a low 15 sec timeslip having never launched the car before with terrible track conditions. Went head to head against a 2002 Jetta 1.8T and beat him 2 out of 3 runs (car bogged down after 1 of the launches). What did you run with your 1.8T ?

I can do it for around 3,500 professionally at Essential Speed...but I have a buddy who would do it for me no charge so it would just be parts which you can buy from $1500USD.

Not exactly the best engine to turbo. I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you. Stock high 16s or so, 6psi isnt going to make a huge difference. Do it right the first time and build the engine before. Thats if you actually want to see decent gains

Its ALOT cheaper and easier to turbo the car you have, than to buy a better one and then turbo it... A turbo sunfire on 6 psi of boost would probably be putting out close to 200hp, so mid 14's(or better) aren't out of the question..

Plus if you turbo the stock engine, you can always rebuild it later on when you want more power...

Sweet, I haven't done too much research on it, but I did take a rip in someones supercharged sunfire. He paid $6000 for everything. What a waste when you can turbo for a third of the price.
