Breslaw Airoport --> Dragstrip

Do you think is possible??
Since there is no track close by for us to race on, do you think they would turn part of the Breslau airoport into a FRI/SAT night dragway for us??
They already have all the safety equipment there for the planes, i'm sure they could use it in case of a car accident.
Is at least 600m so it can provide the 1/4 + the stopping distance
Is nicely paved.
I would pay $5 to drag on there w/ friends even if i know there won't be a slip given at the end of the run, because there are no timing instruments.

The light tree could be a person flaggin people, or if that is considered unsafe the could bring a traffic light on a pole or something else.

i've never heard of something like this.. i'm not calling bullshit or anything i just haven't heard of it.

are there other places that do this sort of thing?

i'm just thinking the air strip might be scared b/c their insurance might rape them.

that is, of course, if airports have insurance.

i dunno about this one.. but it does sound like a good idea.. would be much safe than the street.

is that thing considered private property?

sounds like a lot of fun but getting it of the ground might be tricky

It has nothing to do with the extra room the airport might have. It has everything to do with zoning laws. If the zoning laws permit an airport and a drag strip in the same area, then it's cool, but if not, then I doubt it.

It's a good idea and I've heard of old airports being converted into drag strips, but I've never heard of an active airport being used as a track as well.

Downsview airoport is used as a darg/road track every once in a while. The airoport is also used for planes.
I'm gona look into it, i'm sure you need some city aproval and off course airoport co-operation.

The biggest issue will be finding a day/night when the airport can shut down for all air traffic.

They definitely won't let anyone on the strip within a good while of any inbound or outbound flights.

THE ANSWER IS NO!!!

As long as the land is registered for air traffic, ALL lanes must be clear for emergency purpose!

I guess we all gotta pool our money together and buy that aircraft carrier, setup a strip on it, and plop the ship in to the Grand River.

Hmmm...I dunno, I haven't tried it, I just got it for Christmas and have been playing with the settings. We could try both and do like different angles and then maybe edit them together.

They should open up some sort of track around this area. It would be a great idea and definatly an investment too if you think about it. I'm sure everyone would rather be there than be on the street risking a nice big ass ticket. All you would need is a nice piece of property some parking and two nice paved 1/4 runs plus stopping distance of course. I'm sure it would be packed on fri/sat nights instead of all the tim horton's being packed then. Well just have to open a Tim Hortons there too! If it had a big barn you could use it as a storage place for people's cars that way there is income all year round!

PS. Obviously this won't happen but I like to dream!

It wouldn't even have to be EXTRAVAGENT, maybe a couple 60 person risers, with a cheapo Tree and just your 60ft and 1/4 mile time would be posted on the slip, and when the track makes more money invest in some more stuff. It would have to run from about 9Pm till 1Am to keep it interesting. Thats 4 hours which is good enough. And we could have local challenges and stuff.

WHO WOULD BE INTERESTED IN BRINGING THIS TO THE CITY???

By the way, we should do this in cambridge, City of Kitchener is so bankrupt they probably couldn't afford a 1/4 mile worth of DIRT roads!
