Good Powder Work, Fair Prices

I know a guy who recently opened a powder coating place on Colby Drive in Waterloo. His name is Brian and the company is UltraFinish. I don't know his price structure but know he does really good work. He does a ton of heavy truck rims, and starting to do motorycle and car parts/rims. His number is 519-883-0884

I forgot to mention that UltraFinish has a sandblast cabinet on-premises for most sizes of rims, and a line oven (not a batch oven).

my father knows the owner of bast tire...

they do rims I believe for $40 "white" but cannot sand blast an aluminum rim themself... they have to send it out to be done

they actually coat transport truck rims 24/7 i think... its all they do?

With a polished lip and coated spokes ect... its a pain in the ass "pardon my french" because the coated spokes have to be sand blasted to re-coat them a diff colour ect... so even if you tape up the lip perfectly there is a great chance the sand will get through and wreck the polish?

If they were my rims... I'd sand blast the whole thing and powder coat them... then re-polish "which is alot of work"

Do you have any powder coats that cure up to a glass smooth finish?

all powder is self leveling... so its pretty smooth

unless you use a texture finish or something with a high metallic rate

there are different grades of clear coat. but if you take a full gloss powder it is smooth as glass... if you clear coat on top of it then it will become smoother or slicker which helps keep anything from sticking to the rim

What I need done is a valve cover....and a tubular intake manifold...and maybe some other minor engine bay brackets and such

And I need it as smooth/glossy as possible...and I don't care what colour it is (but black is preferable)

Then I need to have them all back cause I have a mid coat that I need to shoot them all with before a clear can be put on.

What is the typical film builds of the gloss powders?

well lets start with the mid coat? what do you plan on covering the powder with before you want the clear put on ?

It would be like not washing a part full of grease or oil... the powder will cover it and stick. but once you put it into the oven that grease or oil will bake out into the powder and leave a run or empty patch and ruin the job

I'll talk to you in PM....the mid coat is designed to be in between powder coats
